Finding the best data visualization tools isn’t a walk in the park. There are so many solutions out there, each with its pros and cons. That’s why I spend a lot of time carefully researching the market to find the best of the best.
So here’s what I did:
- I searched all over the Web to find the best data visualization software for companies and professionals.
- Then I compiled a list that included more than 40 tools.
- Then I started reading user reviews. I already had experience with some of the tools, but I wanted to see my peers’ opinions.
- I paid special attention to each negative data visualization software review
- After reading hundreds of reviews, I was able to half my list.
- Then I went deeper. I checked reviews and videos dating several years back to see if the tools have improved.
- That removed five more, and there were only 15 left.
- I did a quick data visualization software comparison to decide which of the tools’ visualization capabilities are good enough to make my list.
- Since most data visualization programs are also BI tools, many companies didn’t put that much effort into the visuals.
- That helped, and I had 11 left on my list.

However, once you get used to Sisense, you can create a big data visualization in no time. Even if you don’t know how to do that, there are plenty of resources that can help you out.

Once you have your data set loaded, you can use Microsoft’s data visualization software to create charts and graphs in no time. The drag and drop UI is great. When you’re done, you can add these visuals to a dashboard.
Now, I didn’t experience it first-handed, but some of Power BI’s users reported issues when combining data from various sources into one dashboard.
Microsoft’s data visualization tool allows you to set role-based access and has a collaboration module. Additionally, there are mobile apps for both Android and iOS devices.
And since I’m a big fan of machine learning and AI in particular, I have to mention the Microsoft AI. It’s integrated within Power BI, and it can help you with the data preparation. On top of that, you can build machine learning models to find trends and insights quickly.
To top it all, you can integrate this data visualization software with other Microsoft products, like Power Apps and Power Automate. They can help you build custom apps and automate workflows. That way, you can improve the overall performance of your business.
There aren’t any flashy, mind-blowing features like smart bulbs (Sisense), but Microsoft delivers all the features you’d need from a BI and data visualization app.

One of the things I like about Power BI is that once you get the hang of it, visualizing data doesn’t take a lot of time. The map I did with Tableau took less than a minute with Power BI.
To top it all, the different widgets are interconnected within the dashboard. For instance, imagine you have a chart and a map in your dashboard. When you click on profits on the chart, the map will update as well, showing you only the profits by region.

Moreover, there’s a built-in collaboration module that lets your team members share their comments within the software. If you prefer using Slack, Chartio’s got you covered – there’s an out-of-the-box Slack integration.
This data visualization software also comes with an alerting module. You can use the granular filtering options to configure thresholds and get alerted via email for any anomalies or sudden changes.

This small London-based company has some big clients – Airbnb, Ikea, and Monday.com, to name a few. If you haven’t heard of the latter, it’s one of the best project management software out there.
Unlike other data visualization tools on this list, Geckoboard is a cloud-based solution that focuses on creating TV dashboards. Moreover, it does so in a user-friendly and efficient manner. It’s not like any of the BI tools on this list. In fact, it’s not a BI tool at all.
Geckoboard’s sole purpose is visualizing data and displaying it on a TV. It’s not a robust, end-to-end solution, but its real-time dashboards and ease of use make it one of the best tools on the market.
The first thing you’ll notice when you launch Geckoboard (I gained access to the new beta) is a blank, blue screen. All you have to do is to populate it with widgets.
To do so, you’ll need to connect to a data source.
The software comes with 60+ integrations, including MailChimp, Facebook, HubSpot, and Excel.
Once you have your data, creating a dashboard is a breeze.
You can share it via a link, or display it on a TV. The TV dashboards display real-time data, and you can set up automated dashboard rotations. That way, the data visualization software can show all the important metrics without the need to create one overwhelming dashboard.
