Exclusive Offer
  • Selfies stick or tripod setup
  • Detachable Bluetooth remote
  • 180-degree tilt/ 270-degree rotation
  • Compact at 7.7 inches

This Bluetooth selfie stick from Atumtek is a practical and stylish looking cell phone tripod with a number of added features. You can buy it online for as little as $25 and is arguably the best selfie stick for iPhones.

In its retracted state, it can almost fit in the palm of your hand. When extended it reaches 80cm. Then once you’ve taken out the detachable wireless remote, it expands further into a full-blown tripod that can rotate 270 degrees.

It is very versatile, fitting a wide range of Apple iPhones (12/11 Pro / XS Max / XS / XR / X / 8 / 7), as well as Samsung, Huawei, and other devices of similar size up to 3.42 inches in width

You might be wondering why you might need a Bluetooth remote for a selfie stick. It’s so you can take photos and footage from a distance with no cable. You don’t need to download an app to accomplish this.

The device has a well-built premium feel, with aluminum, plastic, and rubber for grip. It’s mostly black but has other elements in blue, red, and other colors depending on the retailer.

We found everything to be very stable – you won’t be getting any shaky footage or distorted photos from wobbling.

Ultimately, this is much more than just a stick you slot your phone into. There’s lots of maneuverability with the pole and tripod, giving much of the same functions as a professional tripod setup.

You can also use it for home-studio podcast/video recording. This is because it works great as a desktop phone holder to record yourself and even live stream, depending on your data and cellular network. Likewise, you can use it as a regular phone holder to watch videos as well.

Overall, the Atumtek Bluetooth 3 in 1 Selfie Stick/Tripod and Wireless Remote is a lightweight, portable, and feature-rich device with no real negatives to report. You also get a 3-year warranty.

Affordable sticks on the market at $10.99

  • Very affordable
  • 31.9-inch extension
  • Bluetooth paired button
  • Supports 2.2” to 3.3” width

This lightweight but durable selfie stick has a good comfortable grip, secure clamping, and couldn’t be easier to use. It also has Bluetooth controls and can be found for as low as $10.99 at some online retailers – our best-buy pick for the price.

When we opened the box, we were pleased to see how compact it was. Once extended, you get a respectable 31.9 inches. The package comes with the stick, some easy to follow instructions and a USB charging cable.

Hold down the button on the stick for a few seconds until you see the LED light flash. Then if your phone’s Bluetooth is turned on they’ll be able to recognize each other.

When you’re ready, slot any smartphone between 2.2 and 3.3 inches wide into the slot and you’re ready to shoot. You can adjust the mounting plate 270 degrees to find the angle you need.

Using the MPOW selfie stick is self-explanatory and most people will pick it up right away, but the pamphlet guidance is there if you need it.  Our only real issue was that once the stick is extended to its fullest length, there is a small amount of wobbling. This will be more noticeable depending on how you use the stick, but it’s worth keeping in mind. To fix this, detract it a bit.

Battery life is also not the best and will not last you a full day of shooting. It also doesn’t support ‘quick charging’, so your best option is to charge overnight ready for a pre-planned session and hope you get all you need. Casual users who just want to take a few snaps at a party won’t have an issue.

While it’s not perfect, the MPOW iSnap X is an absolute steal for the price and will suit anyone that wants a basic selfie stick, with Bluetooth pairing.

  • Best buy GoPro stick

One of the more well-known brands in modern digital photography and filming, GoPro also has what amounts to a selfie stick add-on – the 3-Way.

While selfie sticks are more commonly used for smartphones, this one is perfect for your GoPro. The ‘3-Arm’ name refers to its 3 adjustable joints and three main uses as a camera grip, selfie stick, or tripod.

The three-way folding arm is ideal for selfies and ‘follow cam’ video recording. When you remove the standalone selfie stick from the main arm you get a more traditional experience. Then, tucked away inside you can remove the mini tripod which is then connected to the stick.

Its maximum extension is 50.9cm (20 inches), so it’s suitable for putting on tables or the ground for taking shots.

At $80 MSRP this Go selfie stick might seem a bit pricey and is, in fact, the most expensive selfie stick on our list. But GoPro is an established high-quality brand and this device is certainly well-built and durable.

It’s compatible with every current model, including the Hero 1, 2, 3, and 4. Essentially the company was smart enough to make every camera come with the same mount.

Plus, there are plenty of extra little value-added features. The device is waterproof, making it the perfect GoPro diving stick. It supports a wide range of positions and rotations you can make with the 3 jointed arm.

If you are searching for GoPro sticks with a button – this does not come with one. If, however, you have the separate GoPro remote control or have a Wi-Fi enabled model paired to your phone, you’re all set.

It doesn’t have a carrying bag or case – GoPro will try to upsell you one for another $19. Nonetheless, the company has a number of cost-effective packages, such as a selfie stick with a camera or a 3-way arm with remote control.

From a pure performance standpoint, the GoPro Black 3-Way Arm is the official and best-performing selfie stick for the range of GoPro cameras on the market today.

  • Good 20-hour battery
  • Bluetooth paired button
  • Extends to 29 inches
  • High-quality build

Ever-growing in popularity, the Anker Selfie Stick is Bluetooth enabled and can extend to 29 inches. In its compact state it’s just 7.5 inches, so is perfect for putting in your pocket or bag.

It’s able to support the vast majority of big and small smartphones, thanks to a simple but versatile clamping mechanism. Your device will be secured and scratch-free.

The stick itself is built well, mainly of aluminum, and has softer gripping and padding in all the right places. We noticed little to no wobbling during our testing and all of our photos and videos came out distortion- and shake-free.

You can also tilt your phone back and forth on the mounting plate to get your ideal angle for the photograph.

The Anker selfie stick pairs to your phone via Bluetooth at the press of a button. You can also take selfies this way.

The device also has a really good battery life, lasting around 20 hours before it needs charging which is great if you’re planning a day of it. This equates to around 3,000 selfies.

One mark against this particular stick is it’s a little on the heavy side so your arms are prone to getting tired if you are planning for a long photo or video session.

Nonetheless, for just $15.99 MSRP, it remains a good value for money, basic selfie stick that has Bluetooth. It should be noted, however, that this Bluetooth does not extend to a remote or other devices. You cannot take pictures by controlling it with another phone, setting a self-timer, or anything like that.

If you need that feature for distant group photos, you might want to look elsewhere.

  • Extends to 49 inches
  • Fits smartphones and cameras
  • 300-hour battery life
  • Detachable Bluetooth remote

The FT-568 has pretty much everything you need from a selfie stick, though its sturdiness and durability means it’s not as compact as most. Fortunately, you get a free carry case, so it’s not a major issue.

You can pick the set up online for just $20!

First thing you’ll notice is its heavy premium frame. The 568 is made out of tough aluminum and has a matte black finish. At 9.8 ounces before extended and without your phone yet attached, that can be quite heavy on the arm. However, there are enough features that we still think it’s worth it.

It has a clamping mechanism to extend the stick at any level between 16.8 inches and 49 inches. As for compatibility, it will support any smartphone up to 4.2 inches in width

Looking for selfie sticks for cameras? This can accommodate GoPros and many DSLR cameras and digital video cameras

The mount itself is very secure and there’s absolutely no wobble at all. You can also rotate it 90 degrees and tilt back and forth to find your perfect angle.

Now.

Time for the real treat – the impressive 300-hour battery life. While you won’t really reach the full 300 hours with intensive use, it still surpasses most sticks that last less than a day.

Setting things up is quick and easy with the instruction manual and the box contains everything you need. You’ll receive the over the shoulder carry case, a screw tight clamp, mirror mount, charging cable, and a Bluetooth remote control.

This control allows you to take photos and footage remotely. You can also use it as a button on the stick itself.

Overall, the Fugetek FT-568 offers superior value for money. Some sticks of this quality retail at up to $100, while this can be ordered from Amazon for just $20. Although it can function as a selfie stick for cameras, all that it lacks is tripod feet.

  • Selfie stick tripod
  • Extends to 2.4ft
  • Remote Bluetooth control
  • 20,000 photo battery life

Whether you need a selfie stick for android phones or iOS, at around $25.99 before postage, the BW-BS10 selfie stick from BlitzWolf is a great all-rounder. More than just your average pole, this versatile piece of tech doubles as a tripod for your cell phone. It can extend to 2.4ft for great range when taking selfies and group photos.

It also comes with Bluetooth remote control for taking photos remotely while it is set up in the tripod configuration. Alternatively, you could use your phone’s timer and turn it into an automated selfie stick, but once paired the prior method is the easier one.

The remote is charged using a USB cable and can be easily popped in and out of the selfie stick as needed.

Rather than promising battery life in hours, they say it’s good for 20,000 consecutive snaps. We personally found it to last long enough for a day out taking snaps a couple of times an hour.

At just 7.67 inches retracted, this cool selfie stick is small enough for your pocket or bag and is lightweight enough – 6 ounces.

That doesn’t mean it isn’t durable. Quite the opposite – the combination of metals, plastic, and matte finish make it good for grip and holds your smartphone without any wobble. The padded silicone clamp mechanism can support any phone width between 2.4 and 3.5 inches.

Getting going couldn’t be easier. Just hold the camera button until you see the green light start flashing. If your iOS or Android device’s Bluetooth is on, they’ll find each other.

We particularly liked the tripod feature. Isn’t quite tall enough for professional photography but works well if you put it on a desk, table, or similar surface as a phone camera stand. This is ideal if you want to record a video of yourself or if you want to watch something on your phone in a stable fashion.

In the end, the Blitzwolf BW-BS10 has all the features you need from a selfie stick and can function in other ways too. Not bad for $25.99.

  • Extends to 52 inches
  • Selfie stick and tripod
  • Remote Bluetooth control
  • Rotates 180-degrees/ Tilts 90-degrees

A second entry from Fugetek, their latest offering comes with many exciting features aimed at more professional users. Worry not – it works well as an Android and iPhone photo stick also.

This model is much more heavy-duty than most selfie sticks – made from aluminum and extending to 51 inches or nearly 1.3 meters. To reach this height it uses a set of tripod legs and allows you to take full standing photos and footage like a proper photographer or videographer.

Alternatively, you can lock it into place at lower 19-inch and 31-inch positions, depending on the type of shot you’re aiming for. You may also want to place the tripod on a desk for filming people sitting down or watching your device.

We found the feet of the tripod to be stable and level and the rubber prevents any slippage. Overall, there’s little to no wobble and you can expect non-shaky footage and distortion-free images.

The head of the stick, where you secure your phone, not only rotates 180 degrees but can also tilt back and forth 90 degrees. You can get the perfect angle and even shoot in portrait mode for portrait photography.

When it’s fully retracted it remains 19 inches long, so it’s not quite something you can put in your pocket. It’s still portable if you put it in a bag.

The Fugetek Selfie Stick is compatible with any smartphone up to 4.2 inches in width, and the Bluetooth connection works on both iOS and Android. Simply turn on your desired device’s Bluetooth, press the small remote control that comes with the selfie stick and it will flash blue before pairing with your device. You can then take group photos and selfies without manning the tripod itself.

Likewise, you can press it when behind the tripod for less hassle when taking photos and filming what’s in front of you.

Of course, to be called a selfie stick it has to function as one. Easily accomplished – simply fold the tripod legs. You can then easily carry the pole in the traditional way, though it’s a bit heavier than your typical stick.

At just $22.99, this is an extremely affordable option. It can turn anyone with a good quality smartphone into a professional if they have the talent. It’s currently our top pick for best phone tripod in 2021.

  • Bendable selfie tripod legs
  • Supports phones and cameras
  • Aimed at content creators
  • Can sit on a desk

If you’re looking for the best cell phone tripod don’t overlook the Joby GorlliaPod 1K Kit. It’s a small and lightweight flexible tripod that can bend and wrap around other objects, like poles, trees, and fences. That way, you’ll get even more complex angles. You can even use it as a motorcycle selfie stick by wrapping around the handlebars!

On the other hand, you can straighten all three legs and have a simple table-top tripod as well.

Interestingly, the product is mainly marketed as a vlogging camera stick for YouTubers and other content creators. It can be useful for digital and video cameras thanks to multiple mounting adapters. And, while it’s not really a traditional selfie stick, it still has the ability to function like one if you fold all the legs together.

What it lacks in Bluetooth connectivity and remote control of the more advanced selfie sticks, it makes up for that with all of its other capabilities.

The Joby GorilliaPod 1K Kit costs $49.95 MSRP and there is a wide selection of accessories and products that can extend its features further.

If you want a basic selfie stick or remote-control capability, this isn’t for you. However, if its maneuverability appeals to you then it’s definitely worth checking out. It won’t break your bank balance. It’s also the best tripod for vlogging due to the simplicity of placing it on your desk or somewhere else in your studio/room.

  • 6.53” to 23.62” extension
  • Up to 3.54” W /6.2” height
  • High-quality build
  • Bluetooth button

This small and compact selfie stick is the perfect solution for the casual selfie taker, with the added benefit of Bluetooth.

Despite being less than $20, the build quality is very high. The extending part is made of aluminum, while other elements are made of tempered glass. It promises to be dust, smudge, and scratch-resistant, making it ideal for putting in your pocket or bag freely with other objects.

In its fully retracted state, it measures 6.53 inches, while it can extend to a respectable 23.62 inches.

The secure clamp is spring-loaded to prevent too much pressure and supports devices with a width of up to 3.54 inches or 6.2 inches in portrait mode. This mode also allows you to accomplish the invisible selfie stick effects if your device supports 360 panorama video recording.

To connect to your phone, simply turn on its Bluetooth and press the button on the selfie handle. Once paired, the same button is used to take photos.

Despite being lightweight, the JTWEB mini selfie stick is far from flimsy. If inserted correctly into the holder you shouldn’t get any shaking while taking your selfies or footage.

It’s worth noting that there are no tripod legs and the selfie button does not detach into a remote control. You won’t be able to take selfies or videos from a distance further than the length of your arm.

Overall, this is a no-nonsense choice that functions as a classic selfie stick with a Bluetooth snapper. While these are a dime a dozen, we found this particular model to have a premium feel to it. It is well worth considering if this is the type of stick you need.

It’s a much better value than the likes of other minis like the Quik Pod Selfie Extreme or Tmobile selfie stick mini.

  • Supports up to 3.5” width
  • Bluetooth button
  • Extends to 32 inches
  • 90-degree tilt/ 270-degree rotation

You can pick up this Bluetooth solution for just $17.99. It works as a selfie stick for the iPhone 6 plus, regular 6, 8, 7, and 5. It’s also one of the best selfie stick options for iPhone X. Samsung Galaxy S10, S9, S8, S7, S6, and S5. As long as your device is no wider than 3.5 inches, it should fit just fine, even if it has a case.

It has a rather unique look, with a ribbed gray rubber handle and white clamping mechanism to slot your device into. The stainless-steel rod extends to a generous 32 inches (81cm). The mounting joint can tilt vertically for distant shots if you need to get above the crowds at concerts or are out taking photos of hard to reach scenery.

It can also remain in the traditional 90-degree angle for perfect group shots, and the rotating selfie stick reaches 270 degrees – you can always find the perfect position.

Despite the length it can reach, this Selfie World selfie stick manages to retract down into 8 inches, which will fit most pockets and easily slot into a bag or purse.

Like most Bluetooth selfie sticks, the pairing process is easy. Just press the camera logo touch button on the top of the handle and it will then be discoverable.

The box comes with a Micro USB charging cable, which slots right into the bottom of the handle and takes about an hour for a full charge. Battery life itself is comparable to other selfie sticks and you will be able to make a day of it if you aren’t snapping the entire time.

This is an overall affordable and high-quality selfie stick. If you buy it from the official Selfie World website, you get a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.

  • Supports phones, cameras, mics
  • Non-Bluetooth selfie stick
  • Extends to 51 inches
  • Rotates 90 degrees

For $29.99 the ProMaster selfie Stick is a heavy-duty and durable ‘boom arm’ that can accommodate everything from smartphones, to cameras and microphones. If you need an affordable and versatile alternative to an expensive tripod, then this may be the product for you.

Compared to others we’ve reviewed, this is an extra-long selfie stick, starting at 13 inches and extending as high as 51 inches. You won’t be able to fit this one in your pocket. However, it will still easily fit into a bag or rucksack. For added sturdiness, the length is extended into 5 sections and locked into place at each one, including its final position.

We experienced zero loosenesses at the clamp end, which also rotates 90 degrees and tilts back and forth. Any shaky footage was because it’s quite large and heavy, but if your device has image stabilization and you use two hands, this won’t be a big problem.

For smartphones, it uses a rubber-coated mount that screws into a quarter-inch thread. This is a universal connection for a basic stick camera and professional equipment, so you will need to remove the phone mount to screw on one of the other devices.

Its only specs are that it supports ‘most phones’. We used it successfully on a Huawei P40 and iPhone 8 for selfies and had no trouble. The way the clamp is designed, it should fit most modern smartphones.

Nonetheless, this product is mainly aimed at those who will benefit from multi-purpose use. That’s because its price is higher than some selfie sticks that have Bluetooth and other features.

You’ll be able to easily switch between devices and use it to take photos and footage on the go. You can also get above the crowds at events. Furthermore, it works great as a boom selfie stick with a microphone for interviews or ambient sound recording.

It’s also much better value for money than similar size sticks like the Digipower Quickpod Extreme.

What Is a Selfie Stick?

So, how does a selfie stick work? Simply put, a selfie stick or selfie stand is a rod-like device that attaches to your smartphone, allowing you to take photos from different angles and greater distances. They have been around in some fashion since the birth of modern camera phones.

Many come with extra maneuverability, such as retraction, extensions, and rotations. Others have a tripod or selfie stick stand design and can be left by themselves with different mechanisms for taking photos or footage remotely. This might be via Bluetooth remote control or another paired phone.

Auto selfie stick solutions are also emerging. They can track your face and automatically take photos based on various factors.

Other designs include multiple joints to manipulate the angle. Also, flexible tripod arms can clamp around other objects like trees or fences in order to create unique shots.

If you’re wondering how much a selfie stick is worth, they’re usually affordable. However, those with lots of extra features that appeal to photographers are closer to $100. They can also be bundled with other accessories and other photography equipment

Whether you’re searching for a selfie stick for Android phones or iPhones, most products are compatible across the board.

Note: While selfie sticks are most commonly associated with smartphones, you can also get them for a digital camera and so-called ‘action cams’ like the GoPro. They work in much the same way but may have other features and often include tripod legs.

How to Choose the Best Selfie Stick

Choosing the best selfie stick for you can be confusing, especially when there are so many different products. Depending on what you want your stick doing, here are some of the main things you should look out for:

Price of Selfie Stick

How much are selfie sticks? Fortunately, good selfies sticks are now more affordable than ever. The leading products we’ve reviewed are as cheap as $10 and don’t go much higher than $80. It doesn’t matter if you need a selfie stick for iPhone or Android.

Compatibility

Your first concern when buying a selfie stick is whether it’s compatible with your phone. Although some manufacturers will certify compatibility for distinct makes and models, the easiest thing to check is the supported width (and sometimes height) measurements. As long as your phone falls within the minimum and maximum, it should be secured safely whether you need an iPhone selfie stick or one for Android. For cameras, you will need to look for the screw/thread size.

Tripods

Some of the best products double as cell phone tripods and allow you to stabilize your device on the ground or desk. You can take timed selfies or record footage of yourself.

Stability

While there is a handful of selfie stick with stabilizer options, look out for one with a clamping mechanism. If your phone feels loose or wobbly, you’re going to get distorted photos and shaky video footage.

If buying a tripod, make sure it has non-slip feet to keep things stable.

Length and Weight

Whether you’re looking for a small or extra long selfie stick, they all come in different sizes and weights. The longer the extensions the more people you can get in your group shot and the easier it is to take shots above crowds at events. However, particularly large and heavy sticks obviously take more of a toll on the holder’s arm.

Compactness

Extension is one thing, but what about retraction? If you want a selfie stick that can easily fit in your pocket, you’ll want something approaching 7 inches or less in its fully retracted state.

Angle and Rotation

If you want something a bit more versatile than a standard selfie stick you might want to consider the degree to which your mounted device can tilt and rotate.

Bluetooth

A selfie Bluetooth stick pairs up with your device and then you can simply press a button on the handle to take your photos. Selfie stick Bluetooth is now the norm though some multi-purpose tripods and other designs forgo this feature for the benefit of others.

Remote Control

A Bluetooth control allows you to use a small keypad to take selfies and photos remotely. This is ideal if the stick has tripod legs and you want to take better group shots. Remote control tripods can still be purchased at a reasonable price.

Multipurpose

Not all selfie sticks are just for smartphones. Some can accommodate regular cameras like DSLRs, digital video cameras, and even microphones in the boom mic style. While these might cost more than your average ‘selfie stick’ they also offer a good middle-ground between the casual selfie taker and the professional photographer or videographer.

You might use it for vlogging, interviewing, or streaming. In this scenario remember to use headphones to prevent feedback loops.

Brand

You know you’re in good hands if you choose a reputable brand. All of the ones on our list meet the mark, though there are several other honorable mentions. These include Sunpak Bluetooth, the Xtreme selfie stick, and Newisland’s option, although the latter is a little dated and needs to be wired to the stick. Our testers consider Atumtek the best selfie stick brand for 2021.

Selfie Stick App

Most Bluetooth options work directly with your phone’s camera app via permissions, but others come with their own app. You can also use a third-party selfie stick camera app for Android or iPhone.

For example, the BT Shutter selfie stick app for iPhone adds zoom and remote features. Meanwhile, the popular Camera 360 app gives you extra filters and editing options.

FAQ

What is a selfie?

A selfie typically refers to a photograph taken with a smartphone of oneself, though the definition has expanded to also include group photos that include the person holding the phone and video.

Selfie sticks expand the height, distance, and angles from which selfies can be taken, though they also allow for photography-like non-selfies to be taken as well.

We’ve reviewed 11 of the bestsellers but there are many other worthy contenders, such as the Fashion Selfie Stick and Yoozon selfie stick.

Are selfie sticks compatible with all phones?

Not every selfie stick is compatible with every phone, but you can usually find one that is by googling ‘selfie stick’ and your phone model.

Nonetheless, most are very versatile because all they do is clamp or otherwise affix your device to the stick. There will usually be a range of phone sizes that are compatible and the model of the phone itself doesn’t necessarily matter.

Tripods for smartphones often also support professional DSLRs and video cameras.

How do I connect my selfie stick to my phone?

If you’re wondering how to use a selfie stick, there are two aspects to connecting your phone. The first is slotting it into the holder or clamp mechanism to keep it stable for taking photos. While different sticks have different mechanisms, they are all straightforward and there will be an instruction manual to guide you.

Secondly, most modern options pair with your device via Bluetooth to allow you to press a button on the handle to take a photo. Some support remote photo taking where you can leave the stick/tripod and assemble your group for an automated shot. This typically requires a remote Bluetooth control that pairs with the phone taking the photo.

Again, the exact process will vary from device to device, but as long as you have your Bluetooth on, pairing can be as easy as pressing a couple of buttons.

Can Selfie sticks damage your phone?

Selfie sticks are usually safe for your phone and come with padded clamps and attachment mechanisms. The main risk is over-tightening or trying to force an incompatible device to fit.

Most selfie stick phone damage occurs because of the user dropping the stick or bumping into something rather.

Are selfie sticks waterproof?

Generally, they are not, but as long as you aren’t using one with electronic parts or Bluetooth, getting them a bit wet is not the end of the world.

On the other hand, some of the best selfie stick models you can buy are indeed waterproof, which makes them ideal for those pool or ocean vacation shots.
