How to Use Remembrance in Elden Ring [Rewards and Rune Worth]

If you’ve just defeated your first major boss in FromSoftware’s latest title and received your first Remembrance, you’re probably wondering how to use Remembrance in Elden Ring. 

Don’t rush into selling it for Runes just yet – you can receive far greater benefits from a Remembrance by trading it for rewards. 

Here’s everything you need to know.

What Are Remembrances in Elden Ring?

Elden Ring Remembrances are consumable items, similar to boss souls found in previous FromSoftware titles, that you obtain in-game after defeating some of the major bosses.

Most of them are dropped by demi-god bosses that are significant to the plot, but some can only be found in optional areas.

What Do Remembrances Do in Elden Ring?

Remembrances grant you the power of their namesake bosses. This can include anything from weapons and spells to certain reusable items and Ashes of War.

What makes these items so valuable in the game is that you can choose how to use the power of Remembrance in Elden Ring.

Every Remembrance in the game comes with two trade-in choices: You can either trade your Remembrance for the boss’s unique spell or their weapon. Some Remembrances offer two weapons and some have two abilities.

What Can You Do With a Remembrance in Elden Ring?

In Elden Ring, you can sell a Remembrance for a large amount of Runes or trade it for a weapon or a spell at Roundtable Hold, a place where you can get a moment of respite in the game.

Remembrances in Elden Ring can also be duplicated, which allows you to use the same Remembrance twice and get both the spell and the weapons from the boss you defeated.

Rune Bounty

Every Remembrance in the game can be converted into Runes. You can either sell a Remembrance to a merchant or consume it yourself. 

Remembrances are worth a lot, anywhere between 20,000 and 50,000 Runes. 

But, selling your Remembrances isn’t the smartest option in most situations. Elden Ring offers plenty of rune-farming methods to earn Runes, which can’t be said for Remembrances.

Remembrances are unique items that can only be obtained once per New Game cycle. If you sell it, you won’t get a second chance until you start a New Game+.

Acquire Boss Items

The best way to make the most out of your Elden Ring boss Remembrance item is to trade it for a unique weapon or spell.

To trade a Remembrance, head over to Roundtable Hold and talk to Finger Reader Enia. She can be found behind a door near the Table of Lost Grace, which only appears after you obtain your first Remembrance.

Once you’re there, select Obtain power from Remembrance. Note that you can only pick one of the two trade-in options, so choose wisely.

Duplicate Remembrance

To duplicate a boss remembrance in Elden Ring, you must find a Walking Mausoleum.

Walking Mausoleums are huge turtle-like structures that slowly roam the Lands Between on giant stone legs, often with a bell attached.

Once you find one, attack the skull growths on its legs. This will cause it to lower down and settle, at which point you can enter it and duplicate one of your Remembrances.

Then, head back to Roundtable Hold to obtain both rewards.

How Many Remembrances Are There in Elden Ring?

There are a total of 15 Remembrances in the game.

Remembrance of the Grafted

Boss: Godrick the Grafted 

Location: Stormveil Castle 

Value (in Runes): 20,000 Runes

Trade-in options:

• Axe of Godrick: A weapon that scales with Strength and Dexterity and comes with I Command Thee, Kneel! skill, which unleashes two earth-shaking shockwaves on the ground.
• Grafted Dragon: A weapon that has the Bear Witness skill, which spews flames over a wider area compared to the base flame attack and makes for a great power stance combination.

Remembrance of the Full Moon Queen

• Rennala’s Full Moon: A powerful sorcery spell that creates an exploding moon projective that deals magic AoE damage and temporarily reduces their magic damage negation. It requires 70 Intelligence to cast.
• Carian Regal Scepter: A Glintstone Staff weapon that enhances full-moon sorceries. It requires 60 Intelligence.

• Starscourge Greatsword: A Colossal Sword with a special skill called Starcaller Cry that pulls foes toward you when cast and lets players follow up with a slam down. To wield it, you’ll need 38 Strength, 12 Dexterity, and 15 Intelligence.
• Lion Greatbow: A Greatbow with a Radahn’s Rain skill that allows you to fire a barrage of arrows at once. It requires 18 Dexterity and 22 Strength to wield.

Worth: 50,000 Runes 

Rewards:

• Rykard's Rancor: A Magma Sorcery that summons searing spirits that explode on impact and cause high fire damage. It requires 40 Intelligence and 18 Faith to cast.
• Blasphemous Blade: A Greatsword that features the Taker’s Flames skill, which engulfs the sword in fire and deals damage to anyone who touches it. This weapon also comes with a health regeneration effect. It requires 21 Faith, 22 Strength, and 15 Dexterity to wield.

Trade-in options:

• Marika's Hammer: A Hammer Weapon that features Radago’s signature attacks: the Gold Breaker skill. Requirements to wield it include 20 Strength, 19 Faith, and 12 Dexterity.
• Sacred Relic Sword: A sword that comes with the Wave of Gold skill, a wave attack that can kill dozens of enemies with a single strike. It requires 22 Faith, 14 Strength, and 24 Dexterity to wield.

Note: The Sacred Relic Sword and Marika’s Hammer can be used in New Game+ and PvP.

Bottom Line

An Elden Ring Remembrance is essentially the soul of the boss you defeat. Although they are worth a substantial amount of Runes, you are better off trading them for unique weapons or spells that you can’t obtain otherwise. A Remembrance can only be exchanged for one trade-in option, but you can always find a Walking Mausoleum to duplicate it and get your hands on both rewards.
