Is Discord on PS4 and PS5?
The short answer is not yet.
In 2021, Sony announced a partnership with Discord– a voice and chat app primarily used by gamers and streamers– saying they’re working hard to integrate the service into the PlayStation Network.
The next year, the video game company delivered on its promise– at least to a certain extent.
Here’s how the PSN integration works (for now) and how you can use Discord on your PS4 and PS5 without having to connect to your PC.
Discord is the go-to chat and voice app for gamers that was specifically designed to serve the gaming community.
With more than 150 million monthly users, it is one of the largest gaming chat platforms in the world, and with a good reason; The app is lightweight, so it won’t bug down your processor, and it lets you communicate and strategize with friends mid-game, among other things.
Despite its popularity, Discord is still not available on the most popular console in the world as an app. PlayStation’s full Discord integration is expected to come with the 7.00 update.
For now, PS4 gamers can only connect their PSN accounts to Discord.
This lets them display their PlayStation game activity on their Discord profiles— something Xbox players have been able to do since 2018– and display their PSN ID to make it easy for other players to add them as a friend there.
To connect your Discord profile with your PSN account:
Although there’s no Discord PS4 app, there are some ways you can get Discord on your PS4 console.
The easiest way to bring the voice and chat features from the app on your PlayStation is to purchase a MixAmp, a device that lets you split your audio between your console and PC.
To make it work, you’ll need the following equipment:
To set it up:
Step 1: Log into your Discount account on your PlayStation.
Step 2: Connect your PlayStation to the MixAmp device.
Step 3: Set up PS4 audio settings.
Step 4: Set up Discord audio on your PC.
Once you’re done, your headset will have the audio output from the PS4 game and the PC voice stream, the levels of which you can adjust on the MixAmp.

Despite having a couple of extra features and perks– including nearly 100% backward compatibility with PS4 – the PS5 does not feature a native Discord app on their consoles.
The PSN integration is available on PS5 and works in the same manner– you can link your PSN account to your Discord account and display your game activity and your PSN ID in the app.
To connect your Discord account with your PSN account:
If you’re looking to get access to more of Discord’s features, you’ll have to resort to the same method as PS4 owners.
The MixAmp device works on PS5 consoles and you can follow the same step-by-step- guide to set up the connection, but it will cost you more. The PS5 does not have an optical port and the MixAmp device needs one to make the connection work. The only way to bypass this hurdle is to purchase an HDMI adapter.
Also, the PS5 has an Internet browser, but it’s not as obvious to access as the one available on PS4 consoles. To open Discord on PS5 from the browser:
PS4 users can use Discord without connecting it to a PC, but they won’t be able to message friends or join voice chats on the app.
To open Discord on a PS4:
From here, you can open chats and access channels, but in read-only mode.
If the game you’re playing requires team coordination, you can always open the Discord app on your phone, but you won’t be able to hear much of everything that’s going on in the game.
Alternatively, you can use the PS Remote Play feature, which will allow you to transmit the audio output of your to your phone or PC, to play on PS4 with game sound, while using Discord.
To do that:
You should now have game audio passing through your phone or PC. You can minimize the PS4 remote play app (if you are on pc) and play your PS4 on your TV whilst talking on discord.

Is Discord on PS4 and PS5? The answer is not yet.
The native Discord app for PlayStation is currently in the works and it is expected to be out soon. In the meantime, you can access some of the basic Discord features, by using the web version of Discord.
Alternatively, you can purchase the MixAmp and by setting up a cross-connection between your PlayStation and PC, you’ll be able to use Discord for voice chat.
Not yet. But, there have been reports that Sony is planning to add a native Discord app to its arsenal.
Not in the literal sense. You can connect your Discord with your PS4 and use the app while playing games on the console with a MixAmp.
Discord is still not available on PlayStation as an app, but PS4 and PS5 users can connect their PSN accounts to their Discord accounts.
