If you like to tinker with Sorceries and Incantations in Elden Ring, you will need Memory Slots.

But, what are Memory Slots in Elden Ring?

In Elden Ring, Memory Slots house spells you have memorized to use in battle.

Here’s how to use them, how to get more Memory Slots in the game, and everything else you need to know about them.

What Are Memory Slots in Elden Ring?

Memory Slots in Elden Ringone of the most anticipated games of 2022– is a Base stat that determines how many spells a player can hold at any time.

Those who have played titles from FromSoftware’s Dark Soul series know them as Spell Slots. In Elden Ring Memory Slots serve the same purpose but work a little differently (More on that later).

Each player starts the game with no more than two Memory Slots because most Sorceries and Incantations require one Memory Slot in Elden Ring, but there are some that occupy two.

How to Increase Memory Slots in Elden Ring

To increase Memory Slots in Elden Ring, you need Memory Stones. Obtaining a Memory Stone automatically increases Spell Slots.

In the Dark Soul series, the game automatically upped the number of Memory Slots when a player leveled up certain stats

However, the developers mixed that mechanic in Elden Ring because, unlike in Dark Souls, the game heavily leans toward the magical side and some abilities can be overpowered.

The good news is players can add more Memory Slots in Elden Ring to make the most out of their spells, especially those that opt for an Intelligence or Faith build. If you want to switch to a mage-like build, consider respeccing in the game.

If you need more damage to defeat a boss in Elden Ring with a Strength build, you might want to consider power stancing.

How to Change Memory Slots in the Elden Ring

Players can’t move Memory Slots around in the Inventory but they can swap Sorceries and Incantations when they have more spells than Spell Slots in Elden Ring.

If you have a spell that you want to use that’s not in any of your Memory Slots:

  1. Rest at a Site of Grace.

How to Get More Memory Slots in the Elden Ring

If you want to use more incantations and sorceries in Elden Ring you will need to get more Memory Slots by obtaining Memory Stones.

There are a total of 8 Memory Stones in Elden Ring scattered across the Lands Between and they’re not easy to come by. Some can be earned by defeating bosses, others are obtained from Chests, and a small number can be bought from NPCs.

Although finding them all can be a challenge, players who have just started their journey in the Lands Between can buy a Memory Stone pretty early in the game, which is located inside the Roundtable Hold

This is also where you can upgrade some of your weapons and boost your armor.

Note that you can only access this area after reaching Margit, The Fell Omen.

To get your first extra Memory Slot in the game:
