Alexa’s replies don’t have to be serious all the time. And with the discovery of this Easter egg, Amazon brings humor to your day.

So before asking out loud what is Super Alexa Mode - let’s do some old-fashioned reading about how it came to be and how to activate it.

What Is Super Alexa Mode?

Super Alexa Mode is a set of hidden commands that turn her into a comedic persona. It's a fairly unknown secret that you can trigger on your Amazon Echo or Echo Dot device.

After enabling it, she'll reply with an assortment of sassy phrases with a distinct difference in her tone.

For instance, when prompted, she'll say something like, "I'm going to tell everyone your deepest, darkest secrets," or "Alexa is now taking over the planet."

This feature doesn't have any essential role in how your device operates. As such, your virtual assistant works just fine without it.

The creators of these Alexa secret commands just want to put a smile on your face!

How to Activate Super Alexa Mode

It's a pretty straightforward triggering process.

First, ensure that your device's microphone is on. Then say, “Alexa, up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, start.”

You can expect her activation quip, “Super Alexa mode, activated. Starting reactors, online. Enabling advanced systems, online. Raising dongers. Error. Dongers missing. Aborting”.

Be sure to voice the correct Alexa up-down commands, otherwise, it doesn’t work, and you’ll miss out on all the fun things to do with Alexa.

The‌ ‌Story‌ ‌Behind‌ ‌Super‌ ‌Alexa‌ ‌Mode‌ ‌

Game developer Kazuhisa Hashimoto created a cheat code to assist in the 1986 testing of Konami’s hit video game - Gradius. Hashimoto reported that he inadvertently left it in the published version. Gamers received it with great fanfare as it enables advanced features and access to previously obstructed areas.

Recognizing the popularity of this not-so-secret code, numerous future NES games included similar tricks.

Inspired by this and applying their own comedic twist, Amazon developers created the Alexa cheat code. The obvious difference is that you receive clever come-backs from your personal assistant instead of powering up in a combat game.

Other Alexa Easter Eggs

In addition to talking back to you, here are a few Alexa secret commands that you can try out for fun.

  • Alexa, add apples, bacon, and eggs to my shopping list.
  • Alexa, delete everything I’ve ever said.
  • Alexa, roll dice.
  • Alexa, code zero zero zero destruct zero.

Hopefully, you enjoy her wit as much as we do.

Wrap Up

This article sheds light on what Super Alexa Mode is. And while it's not something that will bring great wealth or fame, it will surely lighten up your day and make using your Amazon device more enjoyable.

And to keep things fresh, put your creativity to the test by experimenting with other secret Alexa commands.
