The Meta Store will open on the 9th of May.

Meta Store Coming Next Month

The company’s first effort at brick-and-mortar shopping will be located at the Burlingame campus in California.

Meta will display various hardware in its new store, including:

The store will come with interactive demo areas for each of the products on offer. Potential buyers can test Quest 2 demos like Beat Saber, GOLF+, Real VR Fishing, and Supernatural.

With this, Meta is looking at more than just an increase in sales. It also hopes to spread awareness of its virtual and augmented reality technology. The company has made the metaverse a priority for the future and is investing in spreading more awareness.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that customers can “get a sense of what's coming as we build towards the metaverse”.

Martin Gilliard, the store’s head, reiterated that view:

“The Meta Store is going to help people make that connection to how our products can be the gateway to the metaverse in the future.”

The metaverse is a futuristic network of interactive virtual environments that many say is the next iteration of the internet. VR and AR aside, it is based on such underlying technology as the blockchain, cryptocurrency, 3D computing, and AI.

The new store will occupy a 1,550 square feet location near the Meta Reality Labs division. It will open from 11 am to 6 pm on Mondays through Fridays.
