Razer Releases Deep Learning Linux Laptop
Updated · Apr 15, 2022
The company has teamed up with Lambda to introduce the next-gen Blade laptop.
The Familiar Formula Upgraded
The new Blade 15 Advanced, dubbed the Tensorbook, is extremely similar to last years’ model. At least at first glance.
It features an Intel Core i7-11800H, 64GB of RAM, Nvidia RTX 3080 Max-Q graphics, and an 80Wh battery. The display is 15.6", 165 Hz 1440p. Users will also find a UHS-III SD card reader, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, Bluetooth 5.2, and Wi-Fi 6E.
The laptop is 0.66 x 13.98 x 9.25 inches and weighs 4.43 lbs.
But while the previous model was black, the Tensorbook comes in silver only. In addition, it comes with machine learning tools, like PyTorch, Tensorflow, CUDA, and cuDNN. Users will be able to update the system via a single command.
The most noticeable difference, however, is the OS. The new laptop runs Ubuntu, while all previous Razer models came with Windows.
The Tensorbook comes with expert assistance by “skilled system administrators” and an extended warranty.
Lambda claims the model is “up to 4x faster than Apple’s M1 Max, and up to 10x faster than Google Colab instances.”
