At the end of August, Telegram announced it would allow an unlimited number of viewers to watch live streams. This is part of the monthly updates package for the 8.0 version.
The biggest change is in terms of audiences.
The previous Telegram update introduced Group Video chats – a broadcasting tool that also allows screen sharing. As of now, the messaging platform is allowing an unlimited number of viewers, putting it in direct competition with some of the live streaming services on the market.
Users can also run their own TV stations.
Members of the audience can “raise a hand” and speak during broadcasts if the streamer allows them to.
The Rest of the Monthly Updates
True to its monthly updates tradition, Telegram has also unveiled a few other innovations.
Forwarding becomes more flexible. Users will not only be able to see a preview of their messages, but also have customization options at their disposal. They can hide sender names and captions, deselect messages or change recipients.
In addition, the platform now allows users to change channels, without going back to their chat list. Once they reach the end of a channel, they can directly pull up to the next unread one.
Similar to other services on the market, Telegram has also introduced a “Trending” section in their Sticker market. Moreover, the Android version now has larger preview options. Besides “Typing” and “Recording a voice message”, the app has added a “Choosing a sticker status”.
Along with that, users will get to enjoy animated emojis. They will also be able to see the number of unread messages they have.
