The latest price increase will take effect on September 5th.

Another Price Increase

Tesla will honor the previous $12,000 FSD price for all orders made before that date, but it will deliver them later.

The price bump marks the third time the company has raised the price for access to the FSD beta, which was initially $5,000. It first increased to $10,000 in October 2020 and then again to $12,000 in January 2022.

Musk called the service “ridiculously cheap,” considering what it brings. He expects it to deliver full autonomous capabilities by the end of 2022.

However, the National Transportation Safety Board, California Department of Motor Vehicles, and others have criticized FSD capabilities.

The price increase comes along with the 10.69 update, which brings many improvements and no-driver interventions.

The Rise of Autonomous Driving

Autonomous cars have attracted a lot of attention lately. San Francisco and Waymo already offer a self-driving taxi service with no humans in either vehicle's front seat.

China has recently upped its autonomous driving efforts by giving Baidu the first permits for driverless robotaxis.

According to artificial intelligence predictions, over 33 million autonomous cars will be in use by 2040.
