DoFasting is also concerningly opaque when it comes to its team of professionals. Supposedly, there used to be a web page for the nutrition team. It doesn’t exist anymore, which doesn’t bode well for the service’s accountability.

But let’s put those unpleasant details aside for now and see what the app’s capable of.    

You can access it from your browser and phone (iOS and Android). Other than fasting, it also offers other health and wellness-related services. They include:

  • The 5/2 diet — you divide every week into five days of regular food intake and two days restricted to 500-600 calories.

Before you sign up, you’ll be asked to complete a 60-second quiz. The quiz contains questions about:

Once you finish it, you’ll get personalized recommendations for your daily calorie and water intake. DoFasting will also give you an estimate of when you’ll reach your desired weight. Afterward, you’ll be directed to subscribe and download the app.

The service’s main attraction is the multiple fasting plans. DoFasting reviews show most users think it’s a mixed bag — and I have to agree.

Let me explain.

You can choose from several options ranked by difficulty:

  • Expert — 24:0 and 36:0 (alternate days).

The app will track your food and water intake and overall progress when you pick a plan.

You also have a handy fasting timer that you can adjust or pause. Once your eating window’s up, you’ll be notified when the fast starts — and that’s it. It’s a fairly simple affair! 

However, this section is riddled with ads for products such as DoFasting supplements. Having to suffer through so many ads in a paid app is inexcusable. 

It could also offer more details to track, like your mood and motivation levels.

Recipes

DoFasting has an entire section dedicated to tasty and healthy snacks that should sustain your new diet. You can narrow down your selection by entering your preferences (vegetarian or vegan) and food intolerances

You can also track your daily calorie intake. If you follow any in-app recipes, the calories will be automatically added. Otherwise, you’ll have to type them in yourself. 

However, you can’t search for foods you’ve eaten or use a barcode scanner for packaged products. Overall, the calorie-logging function is a bit unrefined. 

Additionally, DoFasting app reviews from vegan users have complained about the lack of appropriate recipes. 

Workout 

This feature suggests exercises that should support your fasting regime. They last from 6 to 45 minutes. You can do all of them at home and save yourself the trip to the gym. 

They’re categorized by difficulty level and the muscles you’ll activate. Each one is animated, so they’re quite accessible.

All in all, I have no complaints here! It works, although it’s a bit on the simple side.

You can find tips on wellness and fitness in the Articles section. They’re all supposedly “100% science-based” and written by professionals. However, none list the sources or even who’s written the content.

Other reviews of DoFasting.com have also pointed out that several sentences are straight-up lifted from free ebooks without citing.

For all its flaws, the app is straightforward and user-friendly.

Navigating the layout is a piece of cake. The Home screen is the main hub that leads to other parts of the app: Meals, Workouts, and Articles. It also displays your current fasting countdown and goals.  

Overall, the interface looks clean and intuitive… once you ignore the extensive ads for DoFasting supplements.

Intermittent fasting might seem overwhelming at first, but you’ll quickly get the hang of it. The first step is to inform yourself on how to prepare for it.

Let’s get started!

First, you’ll need to ensure that fasting is a safe option. People who shouldn’t fast under any circumstances include:

  • Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • The elderly
  • Children
  • People with certain chronic diseases
  • Anyone with a history of eating disorders.

Once you’re sure that you’re a viable candidate, you should consider beginner-friendly options. Schedules like 12:12 and 14:10 should fit the bill. They allow you to go slow!

Then it’s only a matter of sticking to the DoFasting diet plan as close as possible. You can find the core features on the Home screen. You’ll mostly be keeping an eye on the timer, counting down your non-eating hours. Yup, it’s that easy!

Naturally, this review wouldn’t be complete without investigating the pricing structure.

So, how much does DoFasting cost?

You can choose between three options:

The longer your commitment, the cheaper it gets. You’ll get the same features either way, which is good.

The downside is that there’s no free trial or free version. And the service’s Terms and Conditions reveal that it doesn’t support refunds unless you can prove that the app is faulty

DoFasting vs Noom

It’s time to compare DoFasting to one of its biggest rivals.

Noom is a weight loss app based on an entirely different dieting system. For starters, It doesn’t revolve around fasting. Instead, it uses a food color system. Meals are classified as red, yellow, and green. Each color has a calorie recommendation that you should try to stay within. 

Now, let’s look at the features. 

The many mixed DoFasting reviews prove that the app’s functionality is somewhat lacking. Meanwhile, Noom is overall more robust

It has a special corner for recipes that’s mostly the same as DoFasting’s. However, food logging is much more streamlined. You can search for items or use barcodes!

Both services also offer daily articles. Still, Noom’s approach is more interactive since it provides challenges and quizzes for the readers.

As for exercises, both DoFasting and Noom let you record your steps. But, the latter doesn’t have animated workout routines. On the brighter side, you can sync your fitness apps with it. The impressive list includes:

  • MisFit
  • iHealth
  • Fitbit
  • Garmin
  • Qardio.

Additionally, you might notice that in some DoFasting app reviews, users have wished for a more human touch from the app. Noom offers goal specialists to address that demand — but with mixed success.

These personal coaches are supposed to keep in touch with you and offer guidance. However, plenty of users have complained that they’re unresponsive or just plain unhelpful.

What about pricing, though? 

Noom lets you choose from several plans depending on your commitment period. Thankfully, the features are the same for all. They range from $59.00/month to $199.00/year. There’s also a 14-day trial period that costs a dollar. It lets you test everything first, which is neat! 

DoFasting doesn’t have as many options as Noom, but, as we’ve shown above, they’re overall cheaper

However, it’s hard to say if the cost is justifiable since DoFasting doesn’t let you try out the app beforehand. 

Finally, let’s summarize. 

Noom is undeniably a more refined dieting app with better features. It’s not without its flaws, though. It’s hard to ignore the reported issues with personal coaches.

However, if you’re dead-set on fasting as your preferred dieting approach, DoFasting could be a better fit. 

DoFasting Review – Verdict

So, what’s my final take on DoFasting?

All in all, this app has lofty ambitions, but the execution isn’t up to par.

I appreciate the fasting plans’ simplicity and the general ease of use. Having healthy recipes and exercise routines under the same roof is great too. 

However, those extra features are all a bit rough around the edges. The laborious food logging might be the best example of that. The spammy ad tactics are also hard to ignore.

But, the biggest issue is legitimacy. After all, the service keeps you in the dark about its experts and methods. Just slapping on “100% science-based” isn’t going to cut it.

So, is DoFasting worth the money?

At $33.00/per month, it’s not exactly a huge expense. Still, I can’t recommend this service in good faith. It’s essentially a glorified time tracker and a dodgy one at that!

If you’re an experienced faster who needs a straightforward app for daily time logging, it could suit you. Otherwise, skip.
