What is FlexClip?
FlexClip is an online video editor that’s fit for users who are new to the game.
This video editing software lets you create spectacular videos in a flash. With hundreds of video templates, motion presets, and an extensive stock footage library, FlexClip editor is all about effortless creativity.
You don’t have to be a pro to make slideshows, video essays, invitations, vlogs, ads, or promo videos. With FlexClip’s features, you’re good to go.
To top it all, it’s a totally free video editing software. But for this FlexClip review, I decided to sign up for a Business Plan to test all its additional features.
FlexClip gives you the power to create, edit, convert, or compress videos in an instant. Here’s what the program can do:
Video Editing Tools
The video editing software has multiple sections for specific editing purposes.
FlexClip Video Maker
If you visit the video maker on the website, you’ll find a simple workspace where you can create a video from scratch or through templates. The workflow is called a storyboard, which uses linear video editing.
You can import files from your computer, hard drive, or memory card. Alternatively, you can find content in FlexClip’s impressive media library.
The FlexClip video editing process is quick and straightforward. You can insert post-production elements like text, shapes, transition, and other special effects with simple drag-and-drop and one-click controls. Basic video manipulation is a breeze since you can adjust the speed, lighting, and orientation very easily. Its slow-motion and flashforward controls are particularly impressive.
Once finished, hit FlexClip export and download your rendered video within minutes.
FlexClip Video Trimmer
Using FlexClip, you can trim certain parts of your video by simply dragging your cursor. The software allows you to get creative by applying a jump cut, axial cut, cutaway, match cut, smash cut, parallel cut, or cross-cut.
FlexClip Video Merger
Merging videos has never been easier. You can upload all your videos or images at once, put them in a sequence, and voila!
FlexClip Video Converter
Video conversion isn’t just about changing the file’s format. When figuring out how to resize video on FlexClip or change its resolution, FlexClip video enhancer is the solution. It allows you to select from custom sizes fit for smartphones, tablets, computer screens, and you’re able to customize them too.
If you have a digital video or photo that’s too big, you can also use this tool to decrease your video resolution.
Although a bit limited, FlexClip features file compatibility for editing, converting, or compressing videos. You can upload and export various video and image file formats, including MP4, MOV, WAV, M4V, WEBM, JPEG, and PNG.
Along with many other FlexClip reviews, I love the rich content library. If you lack footage for your project, fear not. FlexClip includes thousands of totally free videos, photos, and music you can add to your storyboard. They are all royalty-free, which allows you to use them for marketing and advertising video production without fear of copyright.
FlexClip’s dedicated music catalog is also very appealing to Youtubers, as it contains popular background music and gets updated frequently.
Screen and Voice Recorder
The FlexClip Screen Recorder Tool is perfect for demonstrating new software or creating instructional videos. As the name suggests, it captures your screen activity and incorporates it as video content into your storyboard.
Other FlexClip video maker reviews were accurate: it works as an editor and recorder simultaneously, allowing you to speak while filming or add voice overs.
If you want to add some flavor to your video using special effects, FlexClip’s got you covered.
Unlike non-linear editing systems, FlexClip lets you add video choreography in one click. FlexClip’s motion effect presets and controls make it possible to include moving texts, shapes, and icons. The built-in transition effects are perfect for slideshows and video presentations.
Ease of Use
This program makes video editing super simple, even for those who are new to it. I can attest to that, being a user with zero experience.
The overall navigation is slick, intuitive, and modern. I didn’t spend long locating the tools and controls, which were easy to get accustomed to. While the ready-made templates spared me the manual labor, I still found the “video from scratch” option attractive.
Searching for videos is simple, as the content library is grouped into categories.
The FlexClip reviews were right: it’s an editor that takes only a few minutes to master.
What makes the software so accessible? Two words: FlexClip templates. The video editor lets you choose from pre-made video sequences with instant videos and photos, text compositions, transitions, effects, and more.
The templates are divided into different categories, including:
Birthdays, weddings, baby showers, house parties… These life events can’t go undocumented.
If you’re looking for a place to compile your pictures and clips to one memorable video, FlexClip is the way to go. You can also use it for making video invitations and save-the-dates.
FlexClip templates also support travelogues, as it’s a beautiful photo slideshow software.
You can use this automatic video creator to create professional-looking pitches or video resumes. FlexClip’s business templates are infused with relevant stock videos and transitions that are easily modifiable.
Social Media Video
FlexClip’s social media templates are suitable for popular social networks like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Each category contains ready-made videos with the optimal size and settings to fit the feed of a particular social media app.
If you’re also a budding vlogger who has yet to enter the realm of Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro, FlexClip works as a good YouTube clip creator. The YouTube templates contain music, transitions, and pop-up icons that most YouTubers use. You can even upload your video directly to YouTube with FlexClip’s file-sharing options for web streaming.
FlexClip’s How-To and Tutorial templates are ideal for creating educational content. All you have to do is insert your footage and change the template settings if necessary. These storyboards are made with digital on-screen graphics to enhance your video with text, images, and icons.
Almost every FlexClip review agrees: FlexClip has excellent marketing and advertising video templates. After seeing it myself, I have to say that it does live up to the expectations.
FlexClip is the solution to any issues you may encounter while making campaign, promo, or product launch videos. The templates are also great for freelancers and small business owners who want to engage potential customers.
Flex music video templates also offer a quick solution for music videos. They include graphics and music, but you can upload your own tracks.
FlexClip’s lyric video templates make it easy for you to add lyrics to songs. Text boxes are pre-sequenced in the storyboard; you just have to change the text.
FlexClip Free vs. Paid
This FlexClip review wouldn’t be complete without a comparison between the free and paid version. As with all video editors, you unlock more features with a subscription.
Before I start comparing the two, let’s tackle some of their similarities. Both free and paid versions of FlexClip have:
- The same range of video templates
- The same tools and special effects controls
- Cloud-based editing
- Downloadable Windows desktop app for offline editing
Both versions meet the standards of a functional video editor. But there are some limitations in the free version, which the paid plan compensates for:
Video Output Quality
If you’re using a free version, FlexClip can only export 480p SD videos. The paid version supports high-definition video, allowing you to download up to 1080p full-HD videos.
The free FlexClip video editor can only hold up to 12 projects. The paid versions let you do more, with the biggest plan offering up to 1000 projects per user.
Stock Content Availability
FlexClip is one of the few online editing programs with tons of stock videos, photos, and music stored within its system. Every FlexClip review agrees that this is one of its best features.
However, the free version limits you to using only one stock video per project. Meanwhile, the highest subscription plan gives you unlimited usage of all available content.
Unlike other professional editing software, the free FlexClip editor has a video duration cap of videos for up to one minute. At most, you can use it for producing ads, teasers, or invites.
If you need more, the paid version lets you make videos for up to 30 minutes. It’s the ideal option if you’re into short film editing or vlogging.
Does FlexClip have a watermark? No, both free and paid versions are free of a FlexClip watermark.
However, the free one has a FlexClip intro, which you can’t remove unless you upgrade to the paid version. Additionally, the subscription has a customizable watermark feature where you can place your logo or tagline.
If you reached this part, you probably already know that FlexClip video maker can be used for free. But it also offers three paid versions. Here are the plans you can consider:
- Free – Includes standard resolution, 12 projects, one stock video, and a one-minute video length cap.
- Basic – $8.99/month ($4.99/month for an annual subscription) – Includes higher resolution, 50 projects, one stock video, a one-minute video length cap, custom watermark, and no FlexClip intro.
- Plus – $15.99/month ($7.99/month) – Includes everything in Basic and 1080p downloads.
- Business – $29.99/month ($19.99/month)- Includes everything in Plus, 1000 projects, unlimited stock videos, and a 30-minute video length cap.
Compared to other video editors, the pricing FlexClip has is slightly high, but the annual plans are a much cheaper option. They offer half the price of the plans listed above.
Suppose any of the paid subscriptions prove to be lackluster, no worries. FlexClip offers a seven-day money-back guarantee for all the subscription plans.
FlexClip Review – Verdict
Is FlexClip video editor any good?
Just like other software, it has its highs and lows.
Let’s start with the downside. For an editing expert, FlexClip might be too simple. It lacks the depth of professional video editing programs like Adobe Premiere or After Effects. It’s also not suitable for full-length films or documentaries since it has a video duration limit.
But for rookie editors and freelancers, FlexClip is an excellent option.
If you’re on the hunt for basic editing programs, this is a much better choice against free video editors like Windows Movie Maker. You get more tools to work with, easy templates, and a giant supply of royalty-free content.
That being said, let me show you how I created this FlexClip review. Here are some short videos I created using templates and Flex clips:
All in all, FlexClip is a powerful video editing software that delivers good results. After reading FlexClip reviews and trying it myself, it’s safe to say that FlexClip is a flexible and smart video creator.
Why don’t you give it a try?
