What is IdentityForce?

IdentityForce, launched in 2006, has been awarded several Blanket Purchase Agreements and the Tier One status by the US government as a provider of identity protection services.

Its consistent performance over the years has made it a force to be reckoned with when it comes to ID theft protection. We went through many IdentityForce reviews and users seem more than satisfied with the service.

Let’s see if it lives up to the expectations.

IdentityForce Features

IdentityForce offers a large number of features across both its payment plans. We put them to a test in order to give you a detailed Identity Force review.

Monitor

For both personal plans for adults, IdentityForce keeps an eye out for:

  • advanced fraud
  • change of address
  • court records
  • payday loans
  • sex offender
  • social media identity.

Most of these are industry-standard. The sex offender monitoring, however, is worth discussing. You not only get alerts if your identity is used in sex-related scandals but are also informed if a registered sex offender lives in or moves to your neighborhood. Most ID theft protection services don’t go the extra mile. By the way, you can also use a background or people check service to check if there are sex offenders in your area.

The payday loan monitoring is also vital for identity protection services. You get alerts if any payday or quick cash loans are obtained using your social security number.

Apart from social media identity monitoring, which checks your main social media accounts for any offensive posts, your cyber presence is also protected through dark web monitoring, mobile attack control, and a VPN service. Many identity protection services either lack comprehensive coverage or offer it at additional charges. Not this one.

It will notify you if your personally identifiable information is being traded on the dark web. Mobile attack control scans your mobile device to detect any malware. Finally, the VPN provides you a secure way to surf the Web.

Alert

If you get notified of potentially fraudulent activity in the early stages, you can minimize the damage. IdentityForce will alert you via email and SMS if there’s anything suspicious concerning your bank account, credit card, brokerage, 401 (k), and other financial accounts. You can also place fraud alerts on your credit file to prevent identity thieves from opening new credit lines using your name.

The services include a smart SSN tracker. It informs you if there’s an unfamiliar name, alias, or address associated with your social security number. This reduces the likelihood of it being stolen.

The junk mail opt-out feature removes your name from the most commonly used marketing databases, stops pre-approved credit card offers. It also minimizes the chance of your personal information being extracted from your mailbox or trash. The app will also tell you if your personally identifiable information is at risk due to data breaches

IdentityForce also monitors your medical benefits statements to ensure you and your family members are the only ones using your medical benefits.

Protect

Having control over any loopholes that might make you susceptible to fraud will save you a lot of trouble.

The app lets you quickly cancel and replace credit, debit, and ATM cards if your wallet is stolen.

You’ll also get to enjoy PC protection tools that include anti-phishing and anti-keylogging software. This ensures that the usernames, passwords, and financial information you type on your keyboard are not copied. The tool also detects dangerous fake sites to prevent phishing attacks.

Additional protection comes from two-factor authentication. You’ll get a verification code via email, text, or phone. The IdentityForce app also uses AES-256 encryption to protect your data.

Of course, note that since IdentityForce is subject to global surveillance rules under the 14-Eyes Alliance. Thus, in extreme cases, if asked by US authorities to share user data, the company is bound by law to comply.

Recover

The service helps you resolve any issues resulting from identity theft. And, if IdentityForce reviews are to be trusted, it does so brilliantly.

You get white-glove family restoration as part of the IdentityForce protection services. You get assigned US-based certified protection experts, who are available 24/7 to help you and your enrolled family members out. These specialists save you valuable time by handling paperwork, making calls, and doing all the heavy lifting needed to restore your identity to the pre-theft status.

Next, there’s the deceased family member fraud remediation service. If a family member is enrolled with IdentityForce at the time of their death, you are entitled to comprehensive recovery services for the person’s identity.

Credit

The credit-related features are offered only to the members of IdentityForce Ultrasecure+Credit.

They include daily credit monitoring with instant access to reports and scores from three credit bureausEquifax, Experian, and TransUnion. These credit scores are what lenders look at when making loan decisions. Daily monitoring and alerts ensure that any suspicious changes are quickly spotted.

You also get access to the IdentityForce credit score tracker and a credit score simulator. The latter lets you explore how different financial decisions could impact your credit.

Identity Theft Insurance

The restoration of identity after a theft comes at a substantial price. Plus, the incident itself is likely to lead to the loss of funds. Identity theft insurance can save you from most of the damage. It is also a way for your chosen service to back up its claims of providing adequate protection to you.

IdentityForce insurance provisions get brownie points, because they offer the same coverage to all members, instead of a higher amount to members on the more expensive plan. If you are subject to identity theft, the maximum amount you can be reimbursed for, including out-of-pocket expenses and stolen funds, is $1 million. Not bad at all!

IdentityForce Аpps

The IdentityForce app is available for both Android and iOS devices. The interface is easy to navigate. It can come in particularly handy for alerts and credit score checks. The dashboard is sleek, with neatly arranged icons.

Sounds good.

But.

Multiple Identity Force reviews show that mobile apps often crash. Some features like calling the contact number work erratically. Users often have trouble logging in. Some of these issues cropped up during our limited usage of the app for this review, as well. Average user scores of 3.5 on Google Play Store and 3.4 on the Apple App Store, which seems to confirm the overall impression.

Customer Support

You can contact IdentityForce’s customer support through email, live chat, and phone. There is also a comprehensive FAQ section, in case the issues you’re facing are minor.

The company website says that their member services representatives are available 24/7. However, we tried the live chat service at about 2:30 a.m. EST and were asked to send an email as live chat wasn’t available. The 24/7 services may be available only to the paying members.

We had sought clarification on the payment plans, especially family rates, in our email query. We still don’t have a response, and at the time of writing, it’s been more than a day.

On the other hand, IdentityForce customer reviews about the support team are generally positive. So, we’ll put our experience down to bad luck.

IdentityForce Pricing

IdentityForce pricing plans are:

  • IdentityForce UltraSecure: $17.95/month per member ($179.50/year); all monitor, alert, control, and recovery features
  • IdentityForce UltraSecure+Credit: $23.95/month per member ($239.50/year); all UltraSecure features plus the credit features

Note that with the annual plans, you get two months free. Or you can pay an effective monthly fee of $14.99 with UltraSecure and $19.9 with UltraSecure+Credit.

Until recently there was an IdentityForce family plan, but its pricing is not mentioned on the website anymore. You can, however, invest in IdentityForce Childwatch at $2.75/month per child with both plans.

IdentityForce offers a 30-day free trial with the UltraSecure plan. There is no stated money-back guarantee, and the company is not very clear about the refund policy. You will have to call customer support if you wish to cancel the membership.

Identity Guard vs. IdentityForce

IdentityForce is often pinned against Identity Guard. And for the sake of our IdentityForce review, we decided to see how they hold up against each other.

Criterion IdentityForce Identity Guard
Monthly fees (paid annually) Two plans, starting at $14.99 (individual) Three plans, starting at $8.99 (individual)/$14.99 (family)
Unique feature Credit score tracker and simulator (with the higher-priced plan) IBM Watson (with all plans)
Credit monitoring With the higher-priced plan With the top two plans
Theft insurance $1 million for all plans $1 million for all plans
Social media monitoring With all plans With the top plan
Sex offender monitoring With all plans No
Customer service 24/7 by phone, chat, and email Monday–Friday: 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday closed (All times EST)

Both are competent identity protection services and have many features in common. Because of the base plan fee, IdentityForce may appear more expensive, but it is somewhat justified. It offers extras like social media monitoring. On the other hand, with Identity Guard, you get the partnership with IBM Watson, which uses artificial intelligence to provide protection.

Ultimately, only you can be the judge. Which one is better will depend on your individual needs.

Verdict – Is IdentityForce Worth It?

IdentityForce reviews tend to focus largely on the many services it offers across both plans. Added to this are the credit-related features with the higher plan. We tested them all for our IdentityForce review and we can confirm – this service has possibly the best collection of monitoring, alert, control, and recovery options.

IdentityForce’s pricing, however, is definitely on the higher side for such services. The refund policy is also unclear.

The other major problem is the app. Identity reviews have almost nothing positive to say about it.

Overall, it’s still a strong competitor in the industry, with some brilliant. We’d love to see the aforementioned issues resolved, though, before we crown it the best one.

FAQ

Where is IdentityForce located?

IdentityForce is an entirely US-based service, headquartered in Framingham, Massachusetts.

Do I really need identity theft protection?

Given the high rate of identity fraud and other security breaches, it is advisable to have some sort of identity theft protection

Otherwise, you’ll need to freeze your credit reports and actively monitor your credit and other personal information. If you have those available as part of another service, you don’t need to buy ID theft protection.

Is IdentityForce safe?

It boasts great security measures like two-factor authentication and AES-256 encryption. We didn’t encounter any IdentityForce reviews complaining about safety, so you have nothing to worry about.
