Ivacy is a VPN service headquartered in Singapore. The company has some of the most competitive prices on the market, above-average global server allocation, and dedicated hardware for streaming and P2P sharing.
Other Ivacy VPN reviews have raised the question of who’s pulling the strings behind this mid-sized operation. The real Ivacy VPN owner remains unclear to this day. But we found that it has links to the Pakistani organization Gaditek, whose co-founder is the CEO of PureVPN.
At one point, the company introduced its CEO as Mr. Saad, which could be PureVPN’s Growth Marketing Strategist. Currently, there’s no mention of this executive or any other management team members on its website.
Regardless of why it hasn’t been forthcoming about its structure, what matters is how it promotes internet freedom and keeps its users’ sensitive data private. And that’s what we’ll focus on in this Ivacy VPN review.
Ivacy VPN Features
Here are the basic features you can expect from Ivacy VPN.
You can use this VPN with no limitation. It lets you stream, download torrents, access blocked sites in your country, and safely use unsecured Wi-Fi networks as much as you want.
Five Multi Logins
With one Ivacy subscription, you can connect up to five devices at once. Unfortunately, there is no option to increase this limit, and there’s no family plan available.
Internet Kill Switch
The Internet Kill Switch cuts your internet connection the moment your VPN service drops to protect your privacy. Another user-written Ivacy VPN review said that this functionality improved significantly over the years.
Our Ivacy VPN test found that this feature was automatically activated only on the Android app but not on the Windows app.
You can choose to use your VPN on certain apps only. This way, you can get to enjoy both accessible and locally restricted content at the same time. Split tunneling also helps minimize speed reduction because less data has to travel to a remote server for encryption.
Smart Purpose Connection
Picking the right service is essential for maximum performance. Smart Purpose Connection makes it super easy to identify suitable VPN servers by categorizing them into three purposes: Streaming, Downloading, and Unblocking.
Your VPN automatically launches when your device restarts. While it’s primarily present in the Ivacy mobile app, you can also enable it on your desktop.
Multi-port scan for open ports and connects to the fastest, while avoiding those that may slow your internet speed.
Available on the Ivacy Chrome extension, this feature stops you from connecting to proxy servers. You can access proxy-blocked sites and prevent your traffic from getting redirected to malicious URLs.
This QR code scanner is the key to open the Ivacy VPN TV app. By using it, you can access otherwise restricted content from major streaming services.
Ivacy VPN Advanced Features
Apart from its basic features, Ivacy offers two add-ons to enhance your digital experience.
Ivacy can support you with a unique static IP address, which is more secure and trustworthy than shared ones. You can choose an Ivacy VPN dedicated IP address from the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, Germany, Hong Kong, or Singapore for $1.99 per month.
For only $1 per month, power users can benefit from Ivacy VPN Port Forwarding. It allows you to remotely access your computer, boost your downloads, view your surveillance cameras, and intensify your defense against Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks.
Ivacy VPN Servers and Locations
The information about the number of Ivacy servers is inconsistent. While the company mostly states that its global fleet is over 1,000-strong, that number surprisingly doubles upon checkout. Every recent Ivacy review we checked said it’s within the 1,000 range, though.
There are Ivacy VPN servers in no less than 100 locations across 73 countries—143% higher than the industry average of 30. Covering 34 nations in Europe, 20 in Asia and the Pacific, 11 in the Americas, and 7 in Africa, this network is well distributed. Do note that virtual servers make up about a quarter of the service’s fleet.
The problem is that you can’t access all VPN servers across the board as only 34 countries and territories appear consistently. Overall, Ivacy for mobile has the most extended Ivacy server list with 66 countries and territories, followed by the Windows 10 app (51) and the browser extension (48).
The Ivacy server list by city (unavailable on the Ivacy Chrome Extension) doesn’t include all towns in every country accessible on the apps. For instance, Ivacy VPN for Windows 10 features no Bulgarian city even though you can connect to Bulgaria as a country.
Ivacy VPN Speed
We have to agree with almost every other Ivacy review: this VPN isn’t going to outperform the industry leaders in terms of speed anytime soon. That being said, it’s fast enough to handle basic online browsing.
We initially connected to Ivacy’s UK and US servers from our headquarters in Southwestern Europe, and we saw speeds around 70Mbps. In our third speed test, we tried the Australia servers – it dropped to 15Mbps on average.
Ivacy VPN Privacy and Jurisdiction
Ivacy is based in Singapore, one of the four prominent collaborators with the Fourteen Eyes Alliance. That means the Singaporean government historically shares intelligence with the following countries:
VPN usage doesn’t break any law in Singapore, but the authorities police the internet relentlessly and don’t hesitate to take down sites when necessary.
Fortunately, Ivacy has a no-log policy. This VPN doesn’t monitor or keep records of connection logs and times, online browsing activities, originating IP addresses, IP assignment histories, traffic data, and DNS queries.
The details Ivacy gathers are user names, email addresses, and payment credentials for account creation and customer outreach. The company records chat and email correspondence but deletes data of inactive users every 12 months.
Ivacy VPN Security and Protocols
To prevent data leaks and cyber attacks, Ivacy implements the following security measures.
Ivacy uses 256-Bit encryption, which is one of the most secure forms of encryption out there. It makes your data as unhackable as classified government documents.
Ivacy supports OpenVPN (TCP or UDP), L2TP, IKEv2, PTP, and SSTP. These protocols are responsible for creating secure tunnels to keep traffic data private. The company claims to use a Stealth protocol, but there is no mention of Ivacy VPN WireGuard.
As each protocol offers a unique combination of speed, encryption level, stability, and device compatibility, having a lot of choices can enhance your streaming, torrenting, and browsing experience.
Virus and Malware Protection
Ivacy uses cutting-edge technology to identify and delete malicious code when downloading files.
IPv6 Leak Protection
This feature helps prevent your IP information from leaking and keeps third parties from spying on your online activities.
Ivacy encrypts your DNS requests through its own DNS servers to hide your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
Ivacy’s state-of-the-art infrastructure can safeguard you from cyber attacks that aim to disrupt your internet traffic to paralyze your online activity.
Prevent WebRTC Leak
Available on the Ivacy VPN extension, this feature keeps your actual IP address a secret.
Ivacy VPN Leak Test Results
Our tests revealed that Ivacy was reliable in keeping our data secure as we discovered no IP, DNS, or WebRTC leaks.
Ivacy VPN and Streaming Services
No Ivacy VPN review goes without mentioning that this service is built for streaming. And we couldn’t agree more. Ivacy has an extensive arsenal of streaming-optimized VPN servers that can unblock dozens of streaming platforms.
On Start Streaming, you can select a server to connect by channel or country. If you choose the former, this VPN will automatically conceal your IP location and run your streaming app or site.
How Good Is Ivacy VPN for Torrenting?
Ivacy not only has servers designed for P2P sharing, but it also provides sophisticated layers of security to detect and remove threats in downloaded data.
This VPN also prevents bandwidth throttling. To avoid any guesswork, you can select virus and malware protection, leverage P2P-optimized VPN servers, and use your favorite torrent sites in peace.
Can Ivacy VPN Bypass Geoblocks?
One of the best uses for Ivacy VPN is getting around geo-restrictions. The service is available in China, Oman, Russia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates; 50% of the countries that currently ban VPN usage or heavily regulate it.
If the regular app can’t penetrate the Great Firewall of China, you can try Ivacy Prime instead. Compatible with Android and Windows, this alternative app has limited functionality and requires a paid subscription. It has Smart Connect for instant server connection, Social Connect for non-Chinese social media access, and Channels for streaming.
The only other things you can do on Ivacy Prime is active multi-port, change server locations, and adjust the language setting.
Ease of Use
Ivacy VPN Windows 10, mobile apps, and browser extensions have a familiar look and feel like leading VPNs. You can easily navigate it and find the main features on the primary screen. By default, the setting is on Automatic and will connect you to the fastest server near you.
The Purposes tab features three categories (Start Streaming, Secure Downloading, and Start Unblocking) to narrow down your server options based on your intentions. The Locations lab lets you search for servers and add them to your favorites.
All features are revealed by clicking the triple bar at the top right corner of the screen, including Internet Kill Switch and Split Tunneling.
Although its design is slightly different, the Windows app shares the same features as its mobile counterpart. On the primary screen, it has a toolbar on the left with icons for Smart Connect, the trio of Purposes options, Dedicated IP, My Account, Settings, and Help.
All three versions of Ivacy are intuitive, so we doubt that novice VPN users will struggle to navigate them.
Ivacy offers different support levels, including a live chat, email support, and a knowledge base.
The live chat is available 24/7 and provides immediate answers. Email is understandably less responsive but will give long-form replies between 30 minutes and three hours.
Ivacy’s Support Center answers the most frequently asked questions about the software and its features. This ever-growing knowledge base provides links to video tutorials.
Ivacy VPN Price
This VPN never fails to turn heads because of its highly competitive pricing. Following are Ivacy’s subscription options.
- One month – $9.95/month
- One year – $3.50/month
- Five years – $1/month
To put things into perspective: a five-year Ivacy subscription costs less than one-year plans of the top VPNs, such as ExpressVPN, NordVPN, and SurfShark. Students and apprentices can get more savings through Student Beans and Youth Discount.
If you want to try the VPN first, you can get a one-day free trial. But if you need more time to experiment, we recommend signing up for a paid seven-day trial ($0.99). This trial unlocks all premium features, is non-refundable, and auto-renews to an annual plan if not canceled.
Ivacy offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. Although it doesn’t cover the one-month plan, other subscriptions are refundable within seven days.
Our Ivacy VPN review confirms that while Ivacy is secure, it’s not incredibly fast. But since it works with streaming platforms without interruption, you probably wouldn’t complain.
We love that this VPN showed no signs of leakage of data, but it would’ve been nice if the leak protection tools had been enabled by default.
If you don’t mind using a VPN company that likes to preserve its privacy, Ivacy’s insanely cheap five-year plan is a steal. But if you’re uncomfortable with the brand’s secretive management, this service may not be for you.
Fear it or trust it, Ivacy does what it’s supposed to do—and does it well.
It’s decent, but it could still get better. But for its price, Ivacy’s service is definitely worth it.
No, Ivacy VPN isn’t free. But you can take advantage of the 24-hour Ivacy VPN free trial.
However, you may only find the Ivacy VPN free offer by chance. For some reason, signing up through the Ivacy client for Windows, Android app, or Chrome extension doesn’t always link to this deal.
Pricing starts at $9.95 for one month and goes down to $1 per month when signing up for a five-year plan.
Yes, We were able to unblock major Netflix libraries in North America and Europe as advertised.
Our Ivacy VPN review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning our successful access to BBC iPlayer and Disney+. A quick look at this VPN’s impressive list of channels tells you that it doesn’t take streaming lightly.
