Kinsta provides enterprise-grade hosting for WordPress – the platform that powers over 39.5% of websites across the internet.

Kinsta carefully optimizes resource allocation to provide an unmatched experience to customers.

The lightness of the CMS is another thing we noticed while working on this review. If you combine it with CDN, your visitors are bound to appreciate fast page loading speeds.

The Kinsta reviews online sparked our curiosity. And so, we embarked on a journey to see what this host can amaze us with.

What Is Kinsta?

Kinsta Inc. was founded in 2013 by Swiss techpreneur Mark Gavalda. He spent years as a web developer on WordPress. Knowing the platform inside-out, he focused on enhancing its performance.

The vendor currently provides starter plans for individuals and enterprise solutions for businesses. It also offers custom server configurations.

Kinsta hosting offers fully managed services. The company additionally provides a 100% hack fix guarantee.

As of today, Kinsta‘s headquarters are located in San Francisco, California. It has regional offices in the cities of London and Budapest, with a total of 90 employees.

Kinsta Infrastructure and Network

Kinsta infrastructure comprises 18 data center locations worldwide. These include all major continents globally, minus Africa. Still, the company claims to add an average of 5 new zones per year. At such a rate, true global coverage is only a few years away.

The whole thing runs on Google Cloud. On average, Google’s premium network is 40% faster than others. Likewise, the setup offers real-time scalability to all customers. This helps to accelerate web page delivery by reducing latency, network ping, and TTFB.

You, as a client, get to enjoy great prices, thanks to green hosting that powers Kinsta’s data centers. All systems are powered using renewable energy. As a result, it reduces the costs of hosting by up to 60%

On average, Kinsta CDN processes almost 100TB of data monthly. This is in addition to 235+ TB of bandwidth that passes through its servers. Altogether, a total of 7.5 billion HTTP requests are fulfilled month in, month out.

The numbers are pretty impressive, and so is the client base. It includes Fortune 500 companies such as TripAdvisor, General Electric, Workforce, and more.

Now.

Let’s discuss the features.

Kinsta Features

Kinsta has great features

Ease of Use (Free Website Migration)

myKinsta dashboard makes jumping onboard easy. Once you log in, you’ll be greeted with a beautiful panel. It provides a summary of all events that are taking place on your server – resource usage, number of visitors, paid invoices, and more.

On the setup side, you can easily configure DNS, name servers, and domains. It’s very easy to navigate. If you get stuck, you can visit the knowledge base for guidance.

Also, the vendor guarantees premium support for any issues. Feel free to make personalized requests. We did it a few times, and the tech team helped immensely.

Advanced users aren’t left out either. The Kinsta dashboard has developer-friendly tools such as staging and cloning. You can use these options to test new features before going live. WP-CLI is another option, allowing users to use simple commands to manage WordPress.

Powerful Resources

Kinsta has WordPress plans that come with dedicated resources. Each server is carefully configured to accommodate certain traffic. The pre-built ones range from 25,000 to 3 million visitors. For larger projects, order a custom solution. Keep in mind it will set you back upwards of $1,500+ per month

On the downside, Kinsta doesn’t share the exact specs of their servers. The only details the host provides are monthly visits, storage space, and websites supported. Other hosts such as GoDaddy, Bluehost, and SiteGround indicate CPU type, RAM, and port speeds. Take notes, Kinsta.

On the brighter side, the web host gives useful tips to settle for an ideal plan. Just state what kind of website you want to create. For example, the Starter and Pro tiers are not recommended for ecommerce and membership websites. Kinsta recommends plans with 4+ PHP workers for hosting high-performance sites.

Multi-User Management

Kinsta hosting plans support multi-user environments. It’s an incredible feature for both individuals and agencies. You can not only add team members but also assign roles. The different levels supported include administrators, developers, owners, and company billing. The setup helps to minimize risk by limiting user access to certain features.

Working with teams has various advantages. It provides the convenience that’s required to run large businesses. Higher-level managers can easily delegate tasks to the juniors. Likewise, the rest of the low-level members can submit requests to their seniors for resolution.

The application also provides an affordable way for managing teams. You don’t get charged extra for this. Also, there’s no limit on the number of users that you can add. Sounds good, right?

Kinsta White Label Caching

Cache plugins do an incredible job of accelerating the performance of your site. These applications save the most requested files for speedy delivery to the visitors. Kinsta uses its in-house plugin for that purpose. It supports automatic purging whenever you update content on your site. Your visitors won’t miss any important information.

The application is enabled by default when you deploy a website. However, the solution falls behind the competition when it comes to customizations. It offers limited control options, unlike its peers. On the flipside, according to Kinsta reviews, you can tweak the settings. However, users are required to submit support requests to have it done.

Kinsta CDN

Kinsta relies on KeyCDN to provide content delivery services to all customers. It enables the host to cache your site across 34+ data centers globally. Visitor requests are routed to the nearest server translating to faster page loading.

The network is powered by IPv6 for real-time content caching. Content includes images, CSS, and JavaScript files. All the data is kept and compressed. While this is important for speed, it’s also good for your pocket. Visitors get to transfer lesser bandwidth translating to huge savings on data costs.

Security is another thing worth mentioning. The network processes traffic using HTTP/2 protocol. This allows faster end-to-end encryption of data between the server and end user. It additionally eliminates the need for using SSL on your website. Though not a must, it’s still recommended for about 2% of browsers lack support for this technology.

On the downside, Kinsta CDN comes with limited bandwidth allocation. Depending on the plan, you get anywhere from 50GB to 1000GB free monthly. Once you exhaust your allotment, you’ll be required to part with $0.04/GB. A flat rate for unlimited usage would be better.

Kinsta Security

This host prioritizes security. It uses multiple implementations to lock the bad guys out.

For starters, all users get Kinsta SSL for free. It encrypts connections between the website and users.

You also have a high-end enterprise firewall provided by Google. It continuously scans every traffic request to keep your server safe. This is an efficient method of filtering DDoS, malware, and spam. Everything takes place in the backend to provide a smooth browsing experience to your visitors.

The Kinsta cloud service comes with a 100% hack-free guarantee. Should the security fail, the company’s team of experts will perform a manual fix. And you don’t have to worry about the cost – it’s free.

Monitoring Services

One of the best features we discovered while researching for this Kinsta review. You’ll find an applications performance monitoring (APM) tool that tracks your installations. Its reports activities such as slow database queries, non-optimized plugins, long API calls, etc. Once detected, it breaks down the requests into specific MySQL and PHP queries. This reduces overloading.

Kinsta APM also identifies problematic apps. Normally, users are required to use WordPress developer tools for that purpose. Kinsta, however, flags all the stubborn apps. You can replace them with other alternatives available on the marketplace.

Automatic Backups

Kinsta backups offer an incredible alternative to securing your website. It automatically creates a copy of your site for storage in a remote location. The process takes place daily and keeps your data up to the fourteenth backup. From here, older files are deleted to create space for new ones.

You can, of course, perform the process manually at any time. The restore process is what you’ll appreciate the most. It gives you the option of restoring to a staging or live site. Overall, this option provides you a stress-free environment for testing new features. In the event of glitches, you can revert to an older version of your site.

Kinsta Uptime

Kinsta has an uptime guarantee of 99.9% over a 30-day period. The downtime you experience will not exceed 90 seconds per day. The good thing is we didn’t notice any interruptions during the testing for this Kinsta review. Also, there are zero issues recorded in the past 3 months.

As it is the norm, hosts suffer minor glitches from time to time. Kinsta has SLA in place to protect customers from outages. But if something happens, customers receive a 5% monthly credit for every hour of inactivity

Kinsta Speed

For this Kinsta review, Freshbooks, Buffer, and of course, our test site, to determine server speed.

The result? It took approximately 150ms. So, it takes the server the blink of an eye to fulfill user requests. Depending on the CDN that you use, the figure can slightly decrease to your advantage.

First contentful paint (FCP) was next in line for testing. Webmasters normally use this metric to determine the duration for loading the largest asset. It could be an image, video, HTML, CSS, or JavaScript file. From our observation, it took around 400ms.

All in all, you should expect your website to load completely in under 1.5 seconds. Kinsta reviews also reveal that the figure improves when caching is activated. The only downside to it is third-party cache plugins are disallowed.

Kinsta Hosting Plans

Kinsta’s hosting plans are:

Starter

The Starter plan is perfect for beginners. It comes with a handful of features for running undemanding websites – 10GB storage, free SSL, CDN, and support for up to 25,000 visitors. The host is, however, strict on the numbers. You’ll be asked to upgrade should traffic exceed the given volume.

Kinsta offers free migration support as well. It’s important for helping customers switch hosts fast. Users that come from lesser-known vendors are limited to only one request. However, things get better for customers that use the services of popular hosts. These include the likes of GoDaddy, SiteGround, WP Engine, and a few others. If you’re among them, you can make unlimited requests for moving your sites.

Pro

The Pro plan is for those that have learned the ropes of web hosting. It supports 2 installations and allows up to 50,000 monthly visitors. Storage isn’t the best, as you only get a maximum of 50GB. We still find it adequate for hosting company websites and blogs.

Kinsta also has WordPress multisite in this tier. It’s best for running multiple sites on a single installation. This can be a multilingual website, forums, or product portfolio. The best part is Kinsta’s technical team will handle the domain mapping for you. You will be able to redirect users to the desired sections of your site.

Developers can take advantage of WP-CLI to handle tasks like theme installation, WordPress reinstallation, plugin deactivation, etc. The truth is most of the services can be done in the frontend. While it’s a great feature, Kinsta is strict on what you can do. If you’re an advanced user, better to look elsewhere.

Business

The Business plan is the Kinsta web hosting solution for large blogs and enterprises. It supports ecommerce and sites that need membership registration. Just as with the Starter and Pro plans, storage is limited. Users only get a maximum of 60GB on the highest tier. On the good side, it supports up to 600,000 monthly visits

You can choose your preferred server location during the setup process. It’s ideal for moving services closer to your audience. You get to benefit from multiple PHP workers. Consider the bulk of requests running in the background handled. Your pages will be loading superfast always.

Kinsta has a firewall that plays a major role in securing your website from threats. You can bid goodbye to DDoS attacks, spam, and malware. Other passive security measures are in place as well. This includes threat monitoring and filtering of bad traffic.

The only downside to it is the high cost. You can surely get better features from its competitors.

Enterprise

The Enterprise plan is the icing on the cake. It offers resources for supporting 3,000,000+ monthly visitors. This comprises of 100GB+ NVMe storage, 8+ PHP workers, and 1,000GB Kinsta bandwidth for CDN.

You can install up to 150 WordPress plugins. Still, there are no limits on the number of multisites that you can configure. You can store up to 30 archives.

Kinsta’s monitoring tool, the APM, is available for free. The application streamlines process handling both in the frontend and backend. It additionally flags apps that slow down server performance. You can use this information to remove sluggish applications from your site.

Website cloning is available for performing advanced tasks. This includes testing new features, duplicating sites, and building new templates for clients.

The monthly fee of $600, however, isn’t for the faint-hearted

Customer Support

As per usual, we tested the customer support for our Kinsta review. There are multiple ways of resolving issues such as the knowledge base and live chat. But it’s the email service that caught our attention. We received an instantaneous response to your query!

This host uses the Intercom software to track performance. The company claims that it responds to all tickets in under 90 seconds. We’d say it’s way faster.

The service is available round the clock. You’ll find the staff friendly and willing to address concerns swiftly.

We didn’t encounter any outrageously negative Kinsta reviews when we looked for user opinions on the support team.

Kinsta Pricing

Kinsta’s pricing is as follows:

Kinsta Review – Verdict

Kinsta is a top hosting company that delivers services through WordPress CMS. It provides a long list of features that are backed up with excellent uptime. Even though the pricing is high, you definitely get what you pay for.
