Best for: Document editing and form filling.
What Is pdfFiller?
It’s a cloud-based software that helps SMBs, universities, and large enterprises manage their workflows. With features stretching from simple PDF editing to the integration of digital signatures, pdfFiller is what every innovative company needs.
Thanks to the software, you can track, manage, edit and store your documents online in order to go completely paperless.
Let’s take a look at the features and see whether it is a good alternative to Adobe Acrobat and LibreOffice.
As part of this pdfFiller review, I tested the software’s features. Here’s how it performed:
Form creation and filling are things we are all bound to do at some point. Sadly, it’s a very annoying task and takes a lot of time if we don’t have the right tools.
Fortunately, the tool took care of this! I’ve tested out several standard pre-built forms and they worked like magic.
I’ve generated one from the pdfFiller templates, and I have to say it was quite easy to fill out. The platform has all the right tools to create or edit one too. You have the option to choose from different fonts, insert images, or even add standard fields.
It has similar features to Google Docs, but it's way more customizable and intuitive when it comes to forms creation.
As you can see from the images above, you can choose from various pdfFiller templates in different categories. That’s what makes this software compatible with every type of business. You can see the interface of the software and its built-in tools as well.
Another cool thing about the pdfFiller tool is that you can invite people to work together on a document. So, filling out forms can be done fast and from the comfort of your home.
Another important feature that all pdfFiller reviews cover is the impressive editor. While this software is good for form filling, its features go beyond that.
You can edit PDF files completely.
You can replace the text in the uploaded PDF file, delete unnecessary information, and even draw on top of it. Also, there’s an option to attach your e-signature or put your initials on it.
You can also highlight important info, turn comments on or resize the file.
I’ve tried its capabilities and really appreciated its simplicity. Editing PDF files with pdfFiller was very easy and fun to do. Also, unlike Adobe Acrobat DC, the editor is free.
How many times have you struggled to find a good file converter for your important documents?
Say goodbye to that.
This tool is secure and can convert PDF files to almost any file format.
All you have to do is select a document from your dashboard and click
This save you a lot of time browsing the internet. Also, you can choose the desired destination to send your file to. So, if you have your workplace's Dropbox account connected, you can easily download it directly to your cloud.
You can also set pdfFiller export options before you download your document. That’s a good tool if you want to protect your file with a password, for example.
Our favorite feature so far is the option to put digital signatures on documents. With pdfFiller signature authentication, you’ll have nothing to worry about.
As you can see in the images below, you have various ways to do it. You can simply type in your name and pdfFiller will design a signature for you. You can also draw your own using your mouse or touchpad.
In addition, you can upload an image of it or scan one drawn on paper via your webcam. However, the latter was the least effective because scanning it was hard. Although pdfFiller tried to copy it in the best way possible, it’s far from perfect.
Other options include receiving a link via text or email and drawing your signature on a mobile device. Scanning a QR code was indeed one of the most effective ways.
In the era of digitalization, filling out and submitting applications is easier than ever. Having the ability to sign, submit, and apply online saves not only time but effort as well.
Therefore, the pdfFiller online library is one of the biggest digital libraries with most of the common government forms. For example, you can find templates for the 1099 and W9 forms.
Don’t worry! Filling and sending some of them out to the IRS won’t get you in any trouble; they are completely legal. And yes, you can send documents directly to the IRS from the platform. You can also send them to recipients via USPS, email, fax, or SMS. Furthermore, if your document requires notarization, you can do so as well.
Encryption and Security
When it comes to filling out government forms online, data privacy is a must. Therefore, the documents’ encryption has to be top-notch.
With pdfFiller security is not an issue. It encrypts data with the SHA-256 algorithm. Documents are stored in Amazon’s data centers, which protects them against any data loss.
PdfFiller Inc. complies with security standards and regulations such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, SOC 2, U.S. ESIGN, and GDPR. Which helps the company manage customers’ data safely and confidentially.
They also have physical safeguards, which include limited facility access and control with authorized access.
The tool is also compliant with FERPA and CCPA.
The pdfFiller software has a lot more to offer.
It has additional features that will help you easily manage your files so you can achieve smoother workflows. You can easily merge or split PDF files, or rearrange their pages. Or you can merge data from an Excel spreadsheet into PDF format to generate a filled document. You can export the filled-in data to a spreadsheet as well. Tagging and clearing filled-in fields in documents are also useful features of the application.
Ease of Use
The tool has a very intuitive interface and self-explanatorily options.
Although it requires previous knowledge of similar software - like the pdfFiller alternative Adobe Acrobat - it’s easy to navigate. If you’re struggling, there are different guides for all features.
As you can see from the image below, the pdFfiller Mac and Windows apps are similar to the web version. This makes the transition between the two very easy.
However, I had a hard time using the pdfFiller Android and iOS apps. That’s because it’s very hard to edit or fill out documents on a mobile device. Although it has an option with which you can go to the next fillable field and your keyboard pops up.
All of its editing features are on top of your document, and it’s easy to get access to them.
Also, all the options to manage your PDF files are available when you tap on each one. This is quite nice as you can send, print, or delete them quickly.
People are mostly positive in their pdfFiller reviews when it comes to customer support. However, some folks express their dissatisfaction with certain people on the support team. This is similar to my experience.
Certain team members couldn’t answer simple questions about subscription cancellation, which is unacceptable. They also tried to persuade me a couple of times that I must use their services. That would be okay if I hadn't told them several times that I didn't want to.
Overall, pdfFiller support offers various ways to receive information. They have a good help center with a lot of helpful topics that will solve most problems. They also provide a lot of FAQ sections and useful guides that will help you learn the platform quickly.
The pdfFiller support team is available 24/7 via live chat and tickets. They also provide email support, and they offer a landline for billing inquiries only. Also, I didn’t have to wait long to get a reply, which is great. It took them about a minute to reply via the live chat and about 30 minutes to respond to my email.
I could rate them higher though if it weren’t for the problems I described previously. Anyway, due to their politeness and fast reply, I can easily give them a 3/5.
pdfFiller pricing plans are different depending on whether you pay annually or monthly. Although you can save a lot of money from the discount for annual commitment, think if it’s worth it.
You can also make use of the pdfFiller 30-day free trial, before subscribing. It will charge you right after it ends for the plan you’ve previously selected, so keep that in mind. You can also try the free version, which includes basic stuff like simple document editing.
Every plan comes with a limited number of users, and prices are lower for annual payments. However, if you wish to pay monthly, the prices are as follows:
- Basic plan - $20
- Plus - $30
- Premium - $40
The company also offers a money-back option if you are not satisfied with their product. All you have to do is contact their support team within 180 days of the subscription cancellation.
Although the pdfFiller app is indeed useful, it comes at a hefty price for something you can find for free.
On the plus side, you’re guaranteed security. Also, the tool has many options in one place, which saves time.
I was completely satisfied with their web and PC versions. However, their mobile app wasn’t that big of a deal.
Overall, the results from the tests for this pdfFiller review left a positive impression on me. If you’re still on the fence about it, however, why don’t you give the free trial a spin? You’ve got nothing to lose!
What does “verified by pdfFiller” mean?
It serves as proof that pdfFiller Inc. verifies the time and date of the user’s signature.
How much does PDFfiller cost?
Depends on the plan - $8 for Basic, $12 for Plus, $15 for Premium annually.
Is pdfFiller safe to use?
It complies with major security standards and regulations, so definitely.
