SEO solutions provide a quick way to skyrocket your traffic. Even so, they come with a high price tag. But SE Ranking is out to change that.

The platform’s prices are some of the lowest around. Its pre-configured tiers start from $39/month. You can also go lower by customizing your plan. Just choose your resources, pay, and you’re good to go.

It’s not always about the money, however.

In this SE Ranking review, I reveal everything you need to know about the tool. You’ll also get to know areas that need improvement.

Ready?

What Is SE Ranking?

SE Ranking is a comprehensive SEO tool that’s trusted by 500,000+ businesses globally. It is a cloud-based service that helps users rank better on search engines. It covers keyword research, rank tracking, website auditing, and more.

The platform is also a haven for marketers. It can assist you in discovering opportunities for outranking competitors. In addition, you can use PPC marketing for pushing online advertisements using low-cost keywords. You also get a manager for handling social media interactions.

The SE Ranking Research Company isn’t a newcomer. It was founded in 2013 by US-based marketing consultant Valery Kurilov. Currently, Cars.com, Hunter Engineering, Zapier, and more use it for SEO optimization. Sounds good on paper.

But let’s see what it can actually do.

Features

The SE Ranking app has some pretty neat features:

Keyword Research

SE Ranking has a database of over three billion keywords. You can take advantage of it to find SEO-boosting gold nuggets. When you search for a phrase, it generates insights to guide your decisions.

As you have probably guessed, difficulty shows you how hard or easy it is to rank for a phrase. Besides, it is volume metrics that indicate the keyword’s popularity. You can additionally view the cost per click (CPC) rates for marketing campaigns.

The SE Ranking software also generates related terms of your search queries. These include both alternatives and similar suggestions. Likewise, it shows traffic stats so you can choose the best.

You can speed up tasks by using search engine autocomplete. It uses predictive search to discover phrases for boosting your organic traffic. While that sounds good, it costs $0.001/word on top of your current plan.

Another alternative is to use the bulk keyword tool. But it only supports up to ten phrases at a time. The platform also uses Google, Yahoo, Bing, and Yandex for data. That’s unlike Ahrefs that has a crawler for the whole internet.

Keyword Rank Tracking

You can monitor your performance using the SE Ranking keyword rank checker. It shows every term that’s bringing traffic to your website. It also displays your website’s search engine results page (SERP) position.

Allow me to explain.

Such information highlights areas that need improvement. For example, you can view your SERPs based on target keywords. The option also pinpoints pages that are losing rankings. So, you won’t lose sight of areas that need attention.

There’s a separate tab to analyze your paid terms on Google. These can be neatly categorized using tags and groups.

What’s more?

You can also filter between desktop and mobile traffic for better oversight.

The downsides?

Well, the SE Ranking software doesn’t show trending traffic. In other words, you might use keywords that are losing popularity.

SE Ranking user reviews praise the backlinks checker. You can use it to check domains pointing to any website. So, you can see how the competition is doing.

There’s a switcher for toggling between active and lost links. The monitor also highlights new URLs that you gain over time. Other metrics that it tracks include:

  • Domain authority and trust
  • Google index status
  • Alexa ranking
  • Dofollow/Nofollow analysis
  • Country distribution of links

SE Ranking backlinks checker also has Disavow for isolating low-quality backlinks. These types of domains can hurt your SEO badly. To avoid that, this tool allows you to create a list with undesirables. So, export it to Google Search Console and request for their removal. Easy-peasy!

Competitive Analysis

Do you want to outrank your rivals?

Then you certainly need the competitive analysis tool. It will point out areas where your competitors fall short. From here, use your SEO skills to beat them at their game.

Here’s how it works:

SERP competitors checks for websites that rank for specific keywords. It highlights low competition queries. Best of all – you can filter the results across different search engines.

I also managed to explore the visibility toolkit for this SE Ranking review. It will show you the share of impressions that your rivals are getting on search engines. After that, you can use these insights to target top-ranking sites.

On the downside, the stats filter supports Google and Bing only. The feature is also limited to the US and UK. Furthermore, vital metrics are missing from the results preview. So, you’ll need to open domains individually to view their profiles.

PPC Competitor Tracking

Accelerate your campaigns using the SE Ranking pay-per-click (PPC) monitor. You can snoop on your rivals to see their target keywords. You can use the provided pointers to borrow some ideas.

It displays the CPC of each search term. You can choose to outbid your competitors or target low-cost phrases.

Optimizing your SEO using low-difficulty queries is a better alternative. You’ll be able to get organic traffic without spending a penny.

But wait – there’s more!

The PPC ranking report tool also reveals your competitors’ Google campaigns. The option displays the conversion rates as well. You can copy and customize the best performers to your liking.

Website Audit

Fix problems that affect your rankings using the website auditor. The toolkit helps highlight SEO issues that need attention. These include:

  • Non-indexed pages
  • SSL mismatch
  • Missing internal linking
  • Lengthy page URLs

But that’s the tip of the iceberg.

SE Ranking user reviews approve the on/off-page optimization features. For example, core web vitals pinpoints scripts that slow down your site. There’s also the issue report section for checking content issues. Some examples include:

  • Keyword density
  • Long page titles
  • Missing descriptions
  • Images without alt texts
  • HTML to text ratio
  • Page indexing status
  • Social signals

The SE Ranking website audit toolkit lacks readability analysis, however. It will be challenging to write content that’s easy to understand. Either way, it may cost extra to use third-party tools online.

Page Changes Monitor

Page monitoring is essential for tracking modifications on your website. It alerts you anytime your site’s content changes. But you won’t find an audit log of revisions. You’ll need to use a server-side tracker to view the records.

Despite its shortfall, it’s an ideal tool for security. You can prompt a review of your website with every alert. The undertaking reduces the chances of malicious activities from taking place.

The SE Raking app additionally helps to maximize consistency. It ensures members of your team read from the same page. In doing, you’ll maintain flawless communications with your target audience.

SE Ranking API

Accelerate your reports using the API feature. It’s ideal for companies that manage large numbers of websites. You can create custom applications and use them to:

  • Preform complex performance analyses
  • Retrieve only the data you want
  • Link to external dashboards

On the downside, SE Ranking restricts this app from commercial use. So, you’ll need permission before using it for agency services.

SE Ranking Reports

This platform has a helpful toolkit for report generation. You can create one instantly or use task scheduling. Once complete, it will be available for download. You can also forward it to any email account.

SE Ranking supports the creation of white-label reports. The feature is helpful for rebranding client documents. And there’s an intuitive drag-and-drop template builder to help you do so.

Here’s the exciting part:

Agencies can use performance-based invoicing. You can bill clients based on positive SEO outcomes. These include keyword rankings and search engine SERPs.

Social Media Management

The SE Ranking keyword research tool is also a perfect social media companion. You can use it to manage Facebook and Twitter. Even though other popular platforms are unavailable, it’s still worth it.

You can link both your business and personal profiles. When you do so, consider updating your accounts using auto-posting. Of course, you can schedule the posts with just a few clicks.

You’ll have access to powerful analytics as well. It splits data into demographics and timelines. Such information helps target audiences efficiently.

Ease of Use and Interface

The SE page ranking software has a beginner-friendly dashboard. It only takes a few minutes to start feeling at home. But as with other tools, most functions are hidden under submenus. Still, you’ll find it easy to navigate around.

The main menu is on your left-hand side. You can minimize it to take advantage of the whole window. That way, you’ll enjoy the full view when analyzing data.

SE Ranking user reviews repeatedly mention the project management tool. It provides a neat way of listing all sites under watch. This makes them easy to reach via a dropdown menu.

The feature closely resembles the keyword grouper. It batches websites alongside their top-ranking keywords on Google. It would be best if you assign color tags for easy identification.

The web console, however, isn’t mobile responsive. But, you can work on the go using the vendor’s iOS and Android apps.

SE Ranking has a 14-day free trial as well. You can use it to explore all features. Oh! And a demo version is available for testing without registering.

So, how does it compare against the competition?

SE Ranking vs Ahrefs

Ahrefs is an SEO powerhouse. Its internet crawler is one thing that’s unique about it. Unlike SE Ranking, it doesn’t depend on search engines for data.

And the results are fascinating.

Currently, Ahrefs’ keyword ranking software is the third-largest globally. Its database contains over seven billion search queries. That’s more than twice what you’ll find on SE Ranking’s app.

Ahrefs also takes pride in its massive pool of referring links. And it has a 15-minute refresh frequency! Sadly, the SE Ranking backlinks feature takes up to three days to update.

That’s not all.

Ahrefs’ quality of reporting is outstanding as well. It displays crucial stats of domains without digging deeper into submenus. Its peer, on the other hand, requires some work. You need to open links in separate windows to view the stats.

On the flip side, SE Ranking pricing plans are pocket-friendly. You can even customize your spending based on usage. Unlike it, you’ll need to spend three times more to use its rival.

Ahrefs also doesn’t support white label services. In comparison, its peer’s customizations are ideal for impressing your clients. You can brand reports, customize dashboards, and invoice clients accordingly.

All in all, both are superb solutions. The SE Ranking tool is an excellent platform for beginners. As for Ahrefs, it scores highly in the quality of reporting. Best of all –it’s ideal for analyzing SERP changes in real-time.

SE Ranking vs SEMrush

SEMrush is another popular alternative. The platform advertises itself as an all-round marketing suite. The SE Ranking keyword suggestion tool stands almost zero chance.

Allow me to explain.

SEMrush’s local SEO can help you rank better in your area. It offers listing management for indexing businesses in regional directories. The feature also tracks your performance against rivals daily. Its on-page checker for homegrown keyword optimization is the cherry on top.

An advertising manager is also missing on SE’s tools for search engine ranking. With SEMrush, you can manage Google Ads straight from your dashboard. In addition, it has a toolkit for optimizing your budget and tracking spending.

SE Ranking just can’t reach this level. For example, its social media monitor lacks a tracker for competitors. You can, however, snoop on rival profiles using SEMrush’s SEO tool. Its coverage includes Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Facebook.

Remember the readability analysis I mentioned earlier in this SE Ranking review? Well, SEMrush has it onboard. It gives suggestions for making your content easy to read.

On the other hand, SE Ranking’s software is simpler to use. It will take you less than a day to learn the ropes. Unfortunately, SEMrush’s feature-rich platform has quite the learning curve. You’ll need days to grasp the tools as well.

SE Ranking’s pricing plans are its biggest strength. SEMrush is definitely not for those on a budget.

Customer Support

SE Ranking provides support via chat during business hours only. We’ll knock off a few points for that, as most of the competition has round-the-clock support.

On the bright side, the staff is super friendly.

I managed to engage a few while working on this SE Ranking review. They provide quick tips to address issues.

SE Ranking Pricing

SE Ranking pricing plans are as follows:

Essential

$31/month

The plan is limited to 10 websites only. It offers rank tracking, keyword analysis, and backlinks monitoring. Additionally, you get keyword grouper, on-page auditing, and SEO reporting.

Pro

$71/month

You can use this product on unlimited sites. Its features include on/off-page optimization, social media analytics, and page change monitoring.

Business

$151/month

The tier offers white label reporting out of the box. You also get API access and tracking for up to 200,000 keywords.

As earlier said, SE Ranking offers a free trial - two weeks. It also backs up its services with a 14-day refund policy

NB: At the time of writing, there is a 20% discount.

SE Ranking Review – Verdict

SE Ranking is a low-cost option for freelancers. Despite being cheap, it offers incredible SERP optimization features. Top of that list is a three-billion keyword database. Thanks to it, you can find low competition phrases to boost your rankings fast.

You’ll also love using this solution if you have an agency. While it’s not as good as Ahrefs’, it will get the job done. The platform supports white label reporting for rebranding client services. Additionally, it comes with performance-based invoicing for billing your customers.

The biggest disadvantage I noticed while writing this SE Ranking review is that it takes days to update data. This can negatively impact your long-term SEO strategy. Also, a readability analysis tool is missing.

Overall, this solution is ideal if you’re cash-strapped. Take advantage of its 14-day trial to test its features.
