What Is Shipito?

Online shopping truly is a marvel.

It’s incredibly convenient, too. But if you happen to live outside the United States, your choice of retailers may be limited. Not everyone has access to Amazon or eBay, for instance.

This is the problem Shipito aims to solve.

Imagine if you had a friend in the US who could shop for you and send your items to you. That’s basically what Shipito is. You buy online whatever you want, then Shipito receives the items, and they subsequently ship the parcel to you, wherever you are.

Best of all:

Creating an account is free of charge, and they deliver to virtually any country on the planet - even Antarctica and Vatican City.

Shipito Features

Regardless of where you’re from, the shipping process is pretty much the same. However, Shipito offers several features to streamline the process.

Shipping Calculator

Unsure of the financial side of things?

Worry not, its official website has a calculator to input the parameters of your parcel. You then receive a shipping cost estimation.

The price depends on several factors, like country of destination, parcel dimensions, and weight. Fortunately, the calculator is sufficiently detailed, so you can get a good idea of what you’ll have to pay.

How does it work?

First, you select the warehouse you want your package shipped from. Then, input your country, city, and zip code. Finally, enter the shipping weight, value, and dimensions, and click Calculate. That’s all!

One thing to keep in mind:

The calculator is not 100% accurate, and the actual cost may vary.

Warehouses

Shipito has three warehouse locations - two in the United States and one in Austria.

Here’s why this matters.

Certain warehouses may be cheaper than others - depending on your location. For example, if you live in Europe, it might be best to store your parcels in Austria.

Shipping time is also affected. The warehouse in California is the fastest due to its proximity to Los Angeles International Airport. However, its storage is limited, and you won’t be able to store your items there for long.

And the Oregon warehouse?

Although its worldwide shipping times are slow, it has the largest storage space. Furthermore, it has no sales tax.

So as you can see, each location has its advantages. Depending on where you live and how long you need your items stored, you'll have to decide.

Consolidation

Maybe you’re the kind of person who shops a lot.

No shame in that - that’s what Shipito’s consolidation is for.

If you have multiple packages delivered within a short period, you can combine them into a single shipment. That way, you won’t have to pay shipping fees multiple times. And everything arrives at once, instead of purchase by purchase.

You can even consolidate packages bought from different stores. The parcels stay at the warehouse, where they remain until you notify Shipito to deliver them.

But.

You can’t keep your items in the warehouse forever. Free accounts get seven days of free storage, while paid accounts get 45, 60, or 90, depending on the subscription.

With that said, package consolidation is a great way to save money on shipping costs. It’s a feature that receives many compliments in Shipito reviews.

Membership Rewards

Shipito, like many other services, has premium plan levels.

However, unlike other websites, it rewards you for continuously using the service through membership tiers.

This is how it works.

The more packages you ship and the more friends you refer to Shipito, the more points you earn. As you earn points, you unlock various reward levels, each of which has exclusive perks.

What are these perks?

They range from additional storage space to special discounts. Platinum and Diamond members gain access to White Glove Service, prioritizing their purchases.

Overall, there are five tiers, with each level requiring ten points for advancement. The sole exception is the top Diamond level, which requires 100 points.

To be honest, this is very steep.

For perspective, you’d have to ship one hundred packages over 5 lbs to obtain enough points for the Diamond tier. Or refer a hundred other people to Shipito and have each purchase an Annual membership.

So it goes without saying that most people will never get close to the top level.

Fast Mailout

This feature is a way to automate the process of shipping even more.

To take advantage of Fast Mailout, you must create a dedicated profile. Then, set your warehouse preference and carrier, and everything else will complete automatically.

What good is it for?

Besides getting your parcels to your door quicker, Fast Mailout is also good for saving money. You gain access to discounts on package processing and other fees.

The only drawback is that parcel consolidation is not available with Fast Malout.

Assisted Purchase

Many Shipito reviews often mention this feature as a point of praise.

What is it?

If you are having trouble using online storefronts, you can let the company shop for you. You pay through your account, specify what you need, and Shipito purchases the items.

Shipito assisted purchase

You achieve your shopping desires by completing a form.

If you have a specific item you want, you can paste the URL into the field. You can then define the quantity and the warehouse you want to use. Shipito will then check for availability, make the purchase, and deliver the parcel to you.

Ease of Use and Interface

Shipito’s design brings ease to shopping.

Naturally, this service requires you to fill out many forms. Thankfully, the website makes it clear what is necessary, so you complete your transactions with minimal effort.

With that said.

The website itself tends to be unstable. Often, buttons and features didn’t work, preventing me from basic functionality like logging in or signing up. These issues would persist until I cleared my cache.

The design itself can also be frustrating to navigate. Users find the page cluttered with large menus and toolbars.

Even so, the service is reasonably accessible when working.

This is mostly due to features like Assisted Purchase and its multi-lingual support of 13 languages.

Then there is also Shipito University.

While not an actual university, it is the name for its comprehensive video tutorials on using the service. It presents form completion how-tos, card verification, purchase plan changes, and other helpful topics.

So even if you are having trouble using Shipito, there are plenty of resources to guide you.

How Shipito Works

All these features are great. But how do you use Shipito effectively?

After signing up, you receive an American address. This is the address of the selected warehouse and is where your packages are to be delivered

Shipito Review - shipping

The process is quite simple.

First, you shop for whatever you want from any American retailer. Then, you use your Shipito address at checkout. You then relay the tracking number and package info to Shipito, so they know when to expect your parcel.

Upon arrival, staff inspects your items to determine if anything is missing or damaged and for any prohibited items.

Before I continue, the list of forbidden items is worth mentioning, as it is quite restrictive

It has obvious things, like explosives and drugs.

But you also aren’t allowed to ship items deemed political or products with gambling purposes. What this entails is not specified and would be beneficial. I’d highly recommend you check the complete list yourself.

Now, back on track.

If your package arrives at the warehouse, you will receive photographs of your items. This way, you can inspect the parcel yourself and better ensure you’re receiving what you paid for.

When your package is ready to ship to your international location, you will see a notification on your account. All you have to do next is specify the shipping method.

That’s all it takes!

The website will show you the estimated time of delivery, as well as the final price. You can also purchase insurance if your items are lost or damaged.

Shipito Support

If you’re encountering issues with anything Shipito-related, you can contact customer support.

Service representatives are available by email or filling out a form on its website. The response time varies, but it can take over a day.

There is also live chat. This is only available on weekdays and Saturdays from 6 AM to 5 PM PST.

Finally, you can call. There are two American phone numbers available for premium members but not for users of the free version.

Is customer service helpful?

In my experience, for basic issues, finding a solution was no problem. However, I must warn you that customer service tends to have a bad reputation in many user reviews. There are reports of rudeness or unhelpfulness.

Granted, I didn’t experience anything of the sort, with the only hangup being a slow response time.

Shipito Pricing

Creating a Shipito account is free, and you can use the service just fine without purchasing a plan. But if you want some extra features and security, you have the option of upgrading.

First, let’s take a look at the free package.

Also called a Standard Membership, this is best for single parcels or if you intend to use Shipito infrequently. You have access to package consolidation and customer support via email and live chat

Premium features are unavailable, but you can indefinitely use the free account.

If you plan to use Shipito often, it’s best to evaluate membership options.

Premium Monthly

$10/month

This plan is suitable for personal use. It gives you access to tax-free shopping, support via phone, and the members' rewards program.

Premium Annual

$60/year

It has the same features as the Premium Monthly plan but half the price.

Business Membership

$12/month

Like the Premium model, this has phone support and tax-free shopping. However, it also gives you access to the Business Rewards Program. This is similar to the Membership Rewards but targeted at high-volume shipping businesses.

Shipito disappointingly does not offer any guarantees on its premium plans.

Shipito Review - Verdict

Shipito is an efficient way of shipping parcels from the US to other countries. Yes, the shipment process itself can sometimes take longer than anticipated. But in general, it’s a good service with few restrictions.

Is it easy to use?

The interface has some issues, but there are more than enough video tutorials to get you shopping in no time.

The best part? Shipito delivers parcels to pretty much every corner of the world. Its website boasts a complete list of hundreds of territories.

In conclusion, of this Shipito review, if you want to shop from American retailers but live outside the US, this is among your best options. And with registration being free, you lose nothing by trying it out.

My fascination with technology began from quite an early age thanks to computers and video games. Nowadays, I love anything related to music production and astronomy. Coincidentally (or is it?), both of those have a great deal to do with tech. Honestly, most of the stuff that can be accomplished with modern electronics kind of seems like magic to me. This is why I feel this strong need to constantly learn more about it and talk about it, almost to the detriment of others.
