What Is Tailor Brands
Tailor Brands is an AI-powered platform that offers a full course of both brand design and marketing tools. Thanks to its unified approach to branding, you can:
- Make a logo from scratch
- Put your logo on everything — from business cards to flip-flops (I know, right?)
- Design your digital card and website.
In short, Tailor Brands tries to be both your brand designer and manager.
One of its main assets is its accessibility and ease of use — you don’t need to be a creative professional to make something worthwhile.
Now, all that sounds amazing in theory, but what about practice? That’s what this Tailor Brands review is for. We’ve tested its core features and looked into the pricing and user support, so you don’t have to.
Here’s what we’ve found.
Tailor Brands Features
This is where Tailor Brands truly shines. It will walk you through all of the steps of starting a business. Most Tailor Brands reviews present only a few core features — but not ours! So, buckle up — there are a lot of features to go through.
Let’s dive in.
Our first stop, the famous Tailor Brands logo maker. On the site, they promise you that using it is easy and quick, and the result is professional and unique. But do they deliver?
Let’s find out.
For the introduction part, you need to type in the name of your company, with an optional tagline, and write a short description of your business and the industry you’re in.
Then the Tailor Brands instant logo maker lets you pick one logo type: Icon based, Name based, or Initial based. For our imaginary gaming channel, we picked an icon based design.
You can choose between simple icons or abstract geometric shapes to represent your brand.
Let’s have a quick look at them.
Tailor’s icon database is decently sized and offers a wide array of symbols. On the downside, you can’t combine two or more icons or upload your own for a more unique look.
Geometric Shape Design
Now, the abstract Tailor designs are interesting and they could make your logo stand out. However, there are only 20 of them to choose from, and many look a bit similar.
You’ve picked your logo type and now what?
You move on to font styles.
You can pick three font styles that go with the vibe of your brand. There are 15 styles to choose from. You can get creative, mixing styles like “Tall”, “Elegant”, and “Masculine”, for example. It’s just a shame that you can’t know the names of these Tailor Brands fonts, since they aren’t available.
Finally, the AI works its magic, based on your previous choices and company introduction.
You’re almost there!
But before you get to have a look at its creation, they hit you with the “Subscribe” stick. A cheeky tactic, but we can’t blame them for that too much.
After the subscription detour, the Tailor Brands logo maker lets you scroll through a list of generated logos. The problem is, the more you scroll, the less relevant the results are. So, in the end, you effectively have about 20 decent Tailor logos to choose from – the rest are repetitive.
Now, for the fun part! After you choose a logo from the list, you can edit:
- Text (font styles, letter spacing, tagline size, etc.)
- The overall shape of the Tailor logo design
- The icon (size only, though)
- Color (palettes and layout)
- The layout of the logo (position and alignment).
You can also look at your saved Tailor designs. All in all, it works perfectly well, and it’s extremely easy to use. The one thing we’ll have to complain about is the Tailor Brands free logo sample pic. If you click on the tiny download sample icon, all you get is a disappointing 200×200 JPG file.
If you want to download your logo files in high quality in JPG and PNG formats, you will need to upgrade to one of Tailor Brands plans (basic, standard, or premium). For the glorious EPS vector files, you will need to be on the standard plan at least.
Our final verdict?
As promised, the Tailor Brands free logo maker is quick, easy, and gives you a professional-looking logo. However, because of its limited customization choices, we’re not so sure about the “unique” part.
Still, as the crown jewel of Tailor Brands (and the highlight of all Tailor Brands reviews), it’s well worth its praise.
The Tailor Brands Website Builder can help you create and publish your branded website, and connect it to your business domain. Tailor Brands premium subscribers can choose from their DIY templates and build their online store or blog.
The final look of your website depends on its focus: whether it’s promoting services, presenting products, or a portfolio/CV website.
Interestingly enough, there are two editing modes available: automated and advanced.
Let’s compare them.
This is the default editor, and you really don’t have to be a web designer to use it. It’s streamlined, with fully automated design and responsiveness.
That also means your editing choices are very limited. You can choose which sections to add to your site and change its style. You can edit the header, footer, and sections.
Once again, we have to nitpick (it’s our job) and say that there are only five styles to choose from.
With this easy-to-use editor, the Tailor Brands website builder offers everyone a chance to design their dream website.
Now, this is a whole different beast altogether. With a bit of web design know-how, you can:
- Set the layout for mobile and tablet devices
- Freely create and organize pages and pop-ups
- Drag and drop widgets onto your site
- Add an online store
- Fully customize your site settings and more.
Of course, many of the options are subscription-locked, but it’s still impressive.
Weirdly enough, once you switch to the advanced builder, there is no going back to automated mode. You will need to create either a new logo or a copy of your current one and then navigate to the Tailor Brands website builder and try again.
This is a handy feature that has all of your contact info in one place, and it’s simple to set up, too. You get to:
- Choose the design of your card and even use your brand colors
- Add your business information and upload your picture
- Add contact options.
You are free to check what it looks like on mobile devices and wide screens.
Still, additional settings are locked before publishing. To publish it, you guessed it, you need to pay a visit to one of Tailor Brands plans of subscription.
Social Theme Editor
Here, you can make sure all of your socials follow your brand design. That means uniform themes for your Instagram stories, Twitter covers and thumbnails, Facebook posts and profiles, YouTube banners, etc. You even get to control your advertising.
Again, the editing is straightforward. You can choose background theme styles and font sets and quickly create your branded social media aesthetic.
Not only do you get to design your logo, but you can also print it! It’s a big part of promoting your business, after all.
So, let’s have a look at what Tailor Brands has in store for us.
Tailor Brands Business Cards
The classic. As expected, the process is fairly simple. You can choose between 19 design templates, with your brand color on them. All you need to do is type in your business info and place your order.
Tailor Brands really thought of everything and you can see for yourself.
You can print:
- T-shirts, hoodies, and hats
- Totes and backpacks
- Notebooks, pens, and post-it notes
- Postcards, greeting cards, and invitations
- Mugs and water bottles
- Phone and laptop cases
- Miscellaneous products, including ties, flasks, and magnets.
That is a lot of products! Sadly, the only thing you can customize on them is your Tailor logo design.
Tailor Brands Mobile App
For those of you who are more mobile-oriented, there is also the Tailor Brands Logo Maker app for Android and iOS.
We tried to start our own brand on the mobile app and it liiiiives! Well, kind of.
When it comes to the actual logo design part, the Tailor Brands app delivers. The whole process flows exactly like on the online platform. You type in the name of your brand, write a short description for your company, and choose what type of logo you want. You have the same freedom for editing your logo.
But what about the rest of the features?
Sadly, things get a bit hairy when it comes to designing your Tailor Brands business cards and website, for example.
The business card previews are a jumbled mess — a moment of oversight with the scaling, perhaps, but it still makes the feature unusable.
The Tailor Brands website builder is even worse: we couldn’t even get it to start. After multiple tries and error screens, we gave up.
So, here’s our take on it.
Compared to the ambitious reach of its online counterpart, the Tailor Brands application is pretty limited in its uses. But in case of a sudden moment of inspiration, you can always quickly design your logo on your phone.
Ease of Use and Interface
Tailor Brands’ novice-friendly interface is one of its brightest moments.
The logo creation is very intuitive and flows like a dream. Everything you need is clearly marked and easy to find — except perhaps, the Tailor Brands free logo sample.
The unified dashboard has all you need in one place, and there are tooltips for everything, explaining what each option does. Even if you need the extra info for some of the more complex features, the internal knowledge base has got you covered. So if you need any help with the advanced website builder, there are 47 articles available.
You don’t need to dig around to find what you need on Studio Tailor Brands. It even saves all of the Tailor logos you’ve generated and keeps them close in your “Seen Logos” section.
Tailor Brands Support
We have also explored the often wild world of customer support.
Here’s what we’ve encountered.
The on-site knowledge base is a comprehensive collection of little how-to guides and FAQ sections. They cover pretty much everything, from the basics like using the Tailor Brands logo maker to using the advanced website builder. You can also look for whatever issue you’ve encountered in the handy search bar. Kudos for that!
Now, when it comes to contacting the Tailor Brands support team, you have the option of reaching out via email or live chat. No phone number is provided.
The live-chat option is virtually useless. Whenever we tried to contact anyone, we’d get redirected to email support, because there is nobody available to chat.
On the bright side, when we reached out to them by email, we got a reply in about an hour. They were helpful and perfectly civil.
This all reminds us a bit of the Tailor Brands app and its imperfections. The support system is functional, but the lack of options leaves something to be desired.
Tailor Brands Pricing
As a subscription-based service, Tailor Brands offers you three pricing plans to choose from:
- Basic Plan for $9.99/month (billed monthly) or $3.99/month (billed annually)
- Standard Plan for $19.99/month (billed monthly) or $5.99/month (billed annually)
- Premium Plan for $49.99/month (billed monthly) or $12.99/month (billed annually)
You can pay via Visa, American Express, MasterCard, Diners Club, JCB, Discover, and PayPal.
Note that if you subscribe for one year rather than a month, you can save 70%. Also, it seems the standard plan is the recommended one.
Let’s have a look at what they offer.
With the Tailor Brands Basic Plan, you can:
- Enjoy full ownership of your logo and get high-quality logo files
- Create your digital card
- Upload your images to use for your designs
- Use their mini website builder and graphic design tool.
With the Tailor Brands Standard Plan, you get all of that and you can also:
- Use vector EPS files of your logo
- Use their business card tool
- Make your branded business deck and presentations
- Use their full website builder and create an online blog.
With the Tailor Brands Premium Plan, you get all of the above and you can also:
- Use their social media auto-scheduler and analytics tools
- Create an online store
- Sell your products on Facebook and Instagram
- Accept online payments.
Whew! That is a lot of features. Most importantly, starting with the basic plan, you can own your Tailor logo design — and even if you cancel your subscription, you retain the rights to your design.
So, here’s the truth on Tailor pricing:
If you’re looking to run your business from one place, the yearly Tailor Brands subscriptions look like a sweet deal.
If you only need a one-off design logo, the monthly basic subscription could be your solution.
Still, keep in mind that even though your logo previews are free, there is no free trial, free plan, or money-back guarantee.
Tailor Brands Review — Verdict
Let’s go over Tailor Brands’ strong and weak points together, one last time.
The way Tailor Brands artificial intelligence-driven branding method streamlined the process of creating a brand identity is impressive. It’s quick, it’s simple, and it’s AI-generated.
This approach, however, has some issues.
It sacrifices a more in-depth approach to customization for simplicity and versatility, which isn’t that bad of a trade-off, but still! The lack of creativity in customization and the lack of human element means you can hardly get a unique design.
The Tailor Brands logo maker app is functional — up to a point. It’s a similar situation with customer support — you really can’t depend on emails only.
Still, the grand array of marketing tools at your disposal is nothing to scoff at. Combined with an appropriate subscription plan, it’s a great deal!
All things considered, we can conclude our review on a positive note. If you’re trying to complete your branding strategy in one fell swoop, Tailor Brands is well worth giving a shot.
If you are a small business with a limited budget, then Tailor Brands got you covered. So yes, it’s a good service for a quick and painless business lift-off.
Tailor Brands is perfectly safe. When you buy your Tailor logo design, you keep all the rights to it forever, even if you cancel your subscription plan. Still, the same goes as for every subscription-based service: read everything, especially the small print.
Technically, yes. There is no free trial though. As noted earlier in our Tailor Brands review, you can create your logos for free, look at product mockups, design your website, and more. But if you want to keep your designs and use them, you will need to subscribe to one of their plans. Fair enough!
