It’s even possible to optimize your course for search engines by adding an SEO-friendly URL, a page title, and a meta description. Besides that, you can include a thumbnail image and a promo video. These additional options show that Teachable is geared towards selling courses.

Teachable hands you the tools for marketing and selling your Teachable classes. The platform’s blog is filled with helpful resources and marketing tips to expand your reach and acquire more students.

There are three templates to which you can add a logo, your signature, and change any colors or texts. The software automatically adds the name of your school, the course, and the student. Unfortunately, you cannot remove these auto-generated parts from the certification. Alternatively, you can make a custom certificate with HTML or Liquid.

Most Teachable reviews show that the platform is easy to use and navigate, and we agree. The dashboard is user-intuitive and lets you carry out most main tasks, including uploading course files, monitoring payouts, checking reports, issuing refunds, and communicating with your students.
You can organize the course content using the in-app editor. The drag-and-drop function allows you to re-organize different aspects without any complications. You can also customize the look of your Teachable classes with some design elements.
One of the advantages Teachable has over building your own website is the ease of uploading different files. Using this online learning platform, you can upload all the main file types, including images and videos. There is no need for additional coding or embedding.
Videos are well optimized, and the e-learning software supports high-quality playback across various devices. Students can even play video content at different speeds.

When a student first signs up to your course, Teachable collects their name and email address. You can then communicate with students directly from the platform.

When it comes to marketing, Udemy proactively promotes courses to its users. Especially since the platform has an extensive audience, this can attract a lot of new students. Unfortunately, this also means that your competitors receive the same level of marketing support. If you decide to use the Teachable platform, you are solely responsible for your marketing.
Teachable has no restriction or limit on how much you can charge for your courses. You can also set discounts, and the platform only takes 0-10% of your revenue, depending on your subscription plan.
On Udemy, your price needs to be between $20 to $200. The platform automatically discounts your courses, and it takes 50% of your revenue from organic sales.
Teachable vs Thinkific
Teachable and Thinkific are perhaps the most similar in terms of features. Both platforms let you create custom domains, set up drip courses, create quizzes, offer course completion certificates, track student progress, and add blogs to your website.
While you can customize your online school on both platforms, the design options on Thinkific are quite limited. It only gives you three templates, whereas Teachable comes with a page builder.
