What Is UpLead?

Business-to-business prospecting.

These are essential words in the ecommerce world… and something you will have to deal with if you want to grow your sales business quickly.

Understandably, that’s not a simple process for some. If you have such reservations, you are precisely in UpLead’s target audience.

So what is it?

UpLead is a B2B prospecting tool that makes searching and finding contacts and companies as simple as possible. With it, every contact you find is a potential lead, which can propel your sales business.

How does it work?

UpLead filters through millions of public documents to find the data relevant to your search criteria. Then, setting your desired parameters gives you a list of contacts and their information.

From there, you can create lists of potential contactees to add to your mailing one.

Hopefully, some of these will be converted into leads for your sales business.

UpLead Features

UpLead is pretty feature-rich.

It gives you tons of tools to jump-start your B2B marketing ventures. And with the large amount of data available, you’re guaranteed to find exactly the contacts you’re looking for.

UpLead has over 91 million contacts in its vast database.

This may sound like a lot to deal with, but the program has made it extremely easy to filter out results. Overall, there are eleven total search criteria—by title, industry, revenue, location, funding, and more.

What’s more, if you enter the URL of a company’s website, you will instantly see a list of relevant employees.

How does this all work? Machine learning.

The software uses AI algorithms to look through millions of public documents. The data is then uploaded into the UpLead API, which you can access and search through.

Each contact can be inspected individually.

From there, you can see their email address, phone number, and even past working experience. Additionally, you have access to their employer’s name, position, and LinkedIn profile.

Once you’ve found an appropriate contact, you can add them to your list.

You’d rather search for companies instead? No worries, then.

UpLead company search lets you look for businesses the same way you do for contacts. You can either enter a company’s URL or make use of the search criteria available. Then all you have to do is wait until the list populates itself with relevant results.

By clicking on a company’s profile, you can inspect it more thoroughly and find information about its contacts, phone number, stocks, revenues, technologies, and much more.

Unfortunately, it’s not an entirely perfect system.

Here are some of the inconsistencies we’ve spotted while researching this UpLead review:

First, not every company you find on UpLead has contacts associated with it. Many of them even come up with zero connections. Second, the information can sometimes be outdated or inaccurate.

For the most part, however, you can easily find what you are looking for.

Lists

See a contact you like?

That’s where lists come in.

They allow you to save contacts in customizable categories. Moreover, lists can be further inspected and exported into spreadsheet software for easier access.

Each contact can be transferred from UpLead to CRM programs, which lets you integrate it into your mailing lists.

Lookup

If you’re after something more specific, UpLead’s lookup feature lets you find it. You enter the contact’s full name and company in the search bar and get the result right away.

If the contact is within the UpLead database, they will show up. The system can be a bit glitchy at times, though.

On some occasions, companies we were certain to be in the UpLead API didn’t appear in the list. However, this issue can be fixed by including the corporation’s designation (e.g., Inc. or Ltd.).

Email List Verification

Say you’ve already built up quite a substantial list.

How do you know if the contact information is accurate? Well, this is how.

You can import a CSV file containing all your contacts’ info, which will let you know if the email addresses are valid, invalid, or set to accept all incoming messages.

Though there’s more.

UpLead email verification isn’t a free service. The program calculates the cost based on the amount of data you need checked. The more information you have, the less you are expected to pay per email.

It’s all built natively into UpLead, and it’s of enormous help in compiling all the necessary information.

Contact Data Enrichment

This feature automatically enhances your Excel spreadsheets with relevant info.

What does this mean, exactly?

Say you have a list of first and last names and the URL of the company they work for. UpLead adds more fields with valuable data, such as phone numbers and email addresses.

You can select the type of data you want enriched in the main UpLead dashboard. The software then taps into its API to find information about the contacts on your spreadsheets. It works almost like magic.

News

Each company you find on UpLead can be followed. This means you’ll receive updates on any new developments regarding those businesses.

It also populates the News section of the dashboard, where stories can be filtered by company or date.

Additionally, you can enable daily, weekly, or monthly notifications for each enterprise you follow.

UpLead Ease of Use and Interface

So how easy is it to use, really?

Upon logging in, you are taken to the main UpLead dashboard. This is where you access and manage all your B2B marketing data.

This panel shows you a summary of your recent activity and a news feed for your followed companies. Contact and company search, your lists, news, and other resources are on the screen's left side.

Navigation is easy and quick. Everything is laid out clearly, and there are no layers upon layers of menus you have to sit through.

Frankly, the software boasts an excellent user interface.

Using UpLead filters to get the results you want is also effortless.

All it takes is a few clicks to narrow down the results to what you need. You can add or remove filters without any complications. All in all, it’s a very intuitive system.

There is almost no learning curve to using the software.

Though if you still need assistance getting the hang of it all, worry not. A free, 17-minute-long UpLead demo will take you through all sections and features in detail.

How about if you need help on a particular part of the software?

You can access the support page by clicking the question mark icon at the top right corner. There, you’ll be able to search for precisely the things you need. Many support articles have video tutorials complementing them.

Customer Support

UpLead customer support is available by clicking the gray button in the lower right corner.

This is generally the fastest way to hear back from them. The menu will open your chat history (if you have any) and, more importantly, estimate how long you’ll have to wait for a reply.

You can also contact UpLead via email and phone.

Most user UpLead reviews tend to be highly positive about the software’s customer service. Support agents are deemed professional and to the point.

We decided to check if that’s true and tested the service by contacting the reps ourselves. They got back to us in a few hours with a clear and precise response. The wait was a bit longer for our taste, though—it wasn’t that bad by any means but was also not ideal when you need more immediate help.

Pricing

Now let’s touch on the monetary aspect.

UpLead pricing works a bit differently from other programs. Here, your account has a set number of credits. Whenever you perform an action like verifying email addresses or unlocking phone numbers, you consume a credit.

If you run out, your account’s functionality will be limited.

UpLead’s premium plans give you a set number of monthly credits. Here are the available monthly subscriptions:

Free Trial

$0/month

Five credits for one-time use. Access to most UpLead features like phone and email addresses, data quality enrichment, and lists. The free trial lasts forever.

Essentials

$99/month

170 monthly credits. Access to company news, CRM integration, and a Chrome extension. Additional credits cost $0.60.

Plus

$199/month

400 monthly credits. Includes everything in Essentials plus data quality enrichment, news notifications, advanced filters, email pattern intel, and more. Additional credits cost $0.50.

Professional

$399/month

1,000 monthly credits. Includes everything in Plus and full API access and search features. Supports up to five users. Additional credits cost $0.40.

As you can see, this software requires a serious investment.

However, you can take advantage of the annual UpLead pricing models. They are as follows:

  • Essentials—$890/year
  • Plus—$1,790/year
  • Professional—$3,590/year

All plans are for one user only, except the Professional premium option, which supports five. All payments are non-refundable. So pick wisely before committing to a plan!

UpLead ReviewVerdict

As our review is coming to an end, it’s time to draw some important conclusions.

UpLead is a powerful B2B marketing tool that lets you search for contacts across countless companies and industries. With over 90 million connections in its database, it’s especially potent for B2B prospecting.

Most contacts come with detailed information containing phone numbers and email addresses. This allows you to save them to your mailing lists and generate more interest in your sales business.

However, it’s rather expensive. Though, that is to be expected for such a powerful tool. Another possible downside is that you won’t always find what you want. Some of its information is either incomplete or inaccurate.

All in all, it is, without a doubt, one of the most powerful B2B marketing programs out there. And it all happens in your browser.

My fascination with technology began from quite an early age thanks to computers and video games. Nowadays, I love anything related to music production and astronomy. Coincidentally (or is it?), both of those have a great deal to do with tech. Honestly, most of the stuff that can be accomplished with modern electronics kind of seems like magic to me. This is why I feel this strong need to constantly learn more about it and talk about it, almost to the detriment of others.
