What Is WinX DVD Ripper

WinX DVD Ripper is one of the most popular DVD rip software programs out there – used by over 5.8 million people around the world. The main function of the program is to burn video content on blank discs. You can also remove digital rights management (DRM) which is a tag that safeguards specific movies from brands like Paramount, Warner Bros., and Disney. The software can overcome the content protection method which utilizes 99 titles in a film disc meant to confuse such tools.

If you researched and read some of the popular WinX DVD Ripper Platinum reviews before, you probably know that it is the most advanced version of this software. However, you should also know that there is the WinX DVD Ripper Free.

Continue reading our WinX DVD Ripper review to find out more.

Main Features of WinX DVD Ripper

WinX DVD Ripper is unique – it is known as the only such software that ever reached the Level 3 Hardware Acceleration which is a standard by Intel (QSV) and NVIDIA (CUDA/NVENC).

One of the things that everyone loves about this tool is the ability to convert DVD (ISO images) to many formats such as MP4, AVI, MOV, MPEG, FLV, WMV, MP3, etc. More importantly, this DVD ripping software is incredibly fast, which we’ll discuss later in our WinX DVD Ripper review.

Here’s what you can expect:

Protect Your DVD Files by Ripping Them – Even for Damaged/Scratched DVDs!

Even though DVD discs are not much in use nowadays, a DVD ripper you can get for free is always a good idea. It lets you convert and rip all of your files to other local disks. In an era of online streaming and cloud, it is always good to have a copy of your homemade clips, wedding videos, favorite concerts, etc.

WinX DVD Ripper is great if you want to restore or reuse your old DVD discs. You can even add ones that are not readable, damaged, or scratched and try your luck with it. The real secret in this mechanism stems from the deactivated protection algorithms on a DVD disc, where WinX is able to extract files. This feature is only available in WinX DVD Ripper Platinum, though.

Insanely Fast 1:1 DVD Ripping and Conversion

This software can convert contents to other formats. And it does so incredibly fast.

It gets better.

The app won’t mess up the video quality or the files. Sounds like a dream.

View Your Video Files From Many Devices

Both the WinX DVD Ripper Free and Platinum editions let you access and view files from different devices. These include smartphones, tablets, iPads, game consoles, etc. There are plenty of video outputs, audio codecs, and other technicalities. You can view and manage content from a range of devices, operating systems, and platforms.

Support for Old and Outdated Discs

We all have old and outdated discs that we love. We sacrificed one of ours for the sake of this WinX DVD Ripper review and found that the tool can convert old films, homemade videos, and clips into any digital format

We’d say it’s the best free DVD ripper because of the great job it does with scratched, damaged, or unplayable DVDs. You will be amazed when you see the magic of the app in action.

Great Image Quality

WinX DVD Ripper maintains 98% of the video quality. The image quality is seamless and in the Platinum version, you can literally copy the content to an MPEG2 file and get high image quality. You can also use this free DVD ripping software to backup to a USB drive or a hard disk.

Besides the standard ripping and converting tools that you can see listed in many WinX DVD Ripper Platinum reviews, there are some other extra features worth mentioning. These include:

  • Hardware acceleration: You can use your GPU to increase the speed of your file conversion.
  • Safe Mode: Reserved for when your conversion fails or ends up with errors. This mode might slow down the process a bit, but is great to use for a solid DVD rip.
  • CPU Core Usage: See and edit the processor cores that WinX prompts you to use.
  • Conversion settings: Just locate the gear icon next to the filename, and from there, you can change the characteristics of your videos.
  • Deinterlacing: This feature eliminates the effect of linearity, which is seen in many codecs.
  • Screenshots: This allows you to take screenshots when playing a video in the app.
  • Editing options: If you want to adjust the volume, crop the video, or add subtitles, WinX is the best tool.
  • Resolution/frame rate: Adjust settings such as resolution and frame rate.

Performance

To test the tool for this WinX DVD Ripper review, we tried to rip a video

We found that there are more than 450 presets in 16 categories and subcategories (General profile, DVD backup, Apple/Android/Sony devices, Facebook/YouTube/Vimeo videos, etc.). This gives you literally tons of options for your files.

We went with a standard DVD backup from a disk to create a movie copy. We chose “Main Title Content Copy” which makes an MPG file with 1 audio track and 1 subtitle track (or none), as well as “Full Title Copy” - 1 MPG file with audio tracks and subtitles.

If you need to do it fast, go with the Platinum edition - you can rip an entire DVD file in less than five minutes. Our disk file was ripped in 3 minutes and 35 seconds, which was way above our expectations.

Lastly, we tested the tool from a range of devices. Since it is a web-based one, we found no bugs, lags, or anything suspicious. Our team was so curious that we even re-ripped the files from ISO to DVD and found even better processing times of less than 2 minutes in general.

Keep in mind that full disc backups are slower than partial backups. Also, working with a DVD disc is kind of slower than with an image (local). WinX DVD Ripper did a great job detecting the files, processing the backups, ripping and converting without any extra or corrupt data.

Interface and Ease of Use

The interface of this tool is very simple and straightforward. You won’t have any issues with navigation.

At the top, you can see buttons for key operations. The video player and some of the special features are on the right. The central part is where your current content and files will be displayed - you can move them around thanks to the drag-and-drop function.

You can use physical DVDs, ISO images, or even DVD folders as a source. You will be offered the choice to rip the main parts or back them up entirely.

The ready-made profiles will make your work a breeze, allowing you to quickly rip a disc to a video file in your desired format. You can also play that file.

WinX DVD Ripper Platinum reviews show that users really appreciate the language diversity. The software comes in English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and Chinese.

With WinX, you can use both a DVD ripper and a DVD converter. The Ripper is located in a small menu that appears when selecting a source, followed by several additional Presets Menu and Options menus.

Customer Support

Both the WinX DVD Ripper Free and Platinum versions offer support channels. They include:

  • Email support
  • Phone support - Premium only
  • Social media

If you’re on the free version, you can reach tech support at [email protected]. If you did not receive a License Code or have lost it or have other general questions about registration, you can write to [email protected]. And if you just want to leave feedback to the team, you can do it on the [email protected] email.

If you prefer to solve issues on your own, there’s a great FAQ section available on the website. We also tried the social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube) and found that the team replies to questions in less than an hour.

The overall customer experience with the support team is good. We got a reply via email in 1 hour and 17 minutes.

The only issue here would be that the support team is not available 24/7, which is a must for a product of this kind (with millions of users all over the world).

Security

For our WinX DVD Ripper review, we thoroughly researched the security features.

The program has hardware encoders and decoders which extract raw data through parallel computing, buffering it later for image processing and encoding.

Nvidia, Intel, and AMD are supported with WinX’s hardware processing, so you have some big company names vouching for security. The Platinum Edition is the only one that has reached Level 3, which means 50% higher speed above the industry standard.

WinX DVD Ripper Cost

You have two options:

  • Free edition – $0
  • Platinum edition – $44.95/annually (License Key for 3 PC)

If you want to opt-in and use the software on two to five computers, the Platinum edition has a different Lifetime Family License of $149.95. If you choose the Lifetime Family License you also get as a gift: iPhone Manager and Video Converter.

Also, the best deal which Winx DVD Ripper can offer you is their Lifetime License, which costs $149.95 for 1 PC. With it, you'll also get a free copy of DVD Copy Pro.

If you need WinX DVD Ripper for a government, non-profit organization, educational facility, or a student, you can get a discount. The easiest way to try and claim this is by contacting the team at [email protected]

When purchasing, you can use Visa, Mastercard, American Express, AliPay, etc. Once you submit your payment, you will get a product activation key. Note that there is also a 30-day refund policy and a money-back guarantee on top of it.

The price of WinX DVD Ripper is definitely something that makes the tool attractive for users of all kinds. In fact, the WinX DVD Free plan and all of its features prove that great software can also come with a $0 price tag, especially if you need basic functions.

WinX DVD Ripper vs. WinX DVD Ripper Platinum

The Free edition is great if you want to rip DVDs fast with hardware acceleration. It supports all types of DVDs and all output profiles but lets you copy to ISO and MPEG2 only.

The Platinum version supports all types of DVD and will get the highest level-3 hardware acceleration. Plus, you can play with the editing tools, merge, crop, trim and add subtitles, as well as rip and convert in 4 DVD copy modes. The optimal resolution and file size for your various devices will be kept, as well as the image quality. With this plan, you also get Lifetime Tech support.

WinX DVD Ripper Review - Verdict

For our WinX DVD Ripper review, we tested both versions and we can safely say that no matter which one you choose, you’ll be satisfied.

With hundreds of optimized conversion profiles that accommodate basic file formats, plenty of codecs, and editing options, the software rips files quickly and provides very high-quality results.

It is really difficult to spot the difference between the original files and the ripped version. With an image quality of 98%, it is clear why WinX DVD Ripper is among the top-rated products in this category.

So, if you are looking for a quick and reliable tool - look no further. The WinX DVD Ripper is a top solution.

I have to say that Winx is not nearly as fast as they say. It also has a problem with some of my DVD's not copying the whole DVD even after repeated tries.

My partner bought WinX DVD Copy Pro to backup some dvds I was sending to my brother to watch. The first two copied fine, but the second two did not. Each time the software seemed to have hit a loop, reporting a bad sector and trying repeatedly to fix it (we had watched the discs and there were no problems). I posted a review on one site, and Digiarty got in touch. Digiarty said that that was actually the software trying to break the copy protection and to let the software keep working. I did so with both discs, leaving it to work for more than an hour with each. I therefore asked for a refund (within the thirty days) and the company is now saying that I must remove my negative review first. So, buyers beware!!
